After a disappointing close loss at Duke on Saturday, Miami has another tough road game to tackle tonight as they visit rival Florida State, who is coming off of its best week of the season.
The #20 Hurricanes (15-4, 6-3 ACC) and Seminoles (7-13, 5-4 ACC) are set for a 7:00 pm ET tip, and ESPNU will have all of the action from the Donald L. Tucker Center in Tallahassee.
One of the biggest surprises early in this college basketball season was FSU’s 1-9 start. But the Seminoles are improving, and they are over .500 in ACC play after winning at Notre Dame and Pitt last week.
This week, the Seminoles are at home for two games against ranked foes, with ACC-leading and 24th-ranked Clemson coming to town on Saturday.
Will the Hurricanes avoid the upset tonight in Tally? Read on for our Miami vs Florida State basketball prediction and picks.

Will Miami Get Over the Hump on the Road?
Saturday’s loss at Duke was the latest in a troubling trend for the Hurricanes, who are on the road for three of their next four games.
It was their third straight road loss, and all three can be considered missed opportunities.
At Georgia Tech on January 4, they held a 70-64 lead with 4:50 remaining, then did not score again as the Yellow Jackets rallied for a 76-70 win.
In an 83-81 overtime loss at NC State, Miami held an 81-78 lead with 2:13 left in the extra period then did not score again.
And in Saturday’s loss in Durham, the Hurricanes pulled within one with under three minutes left after being down by seven two minutes prior, but they weren’t able to pull ahead at any point as the Blue Devils closed out a 68-66 win.
Now, they have to face an FSU squad that is on the rise and had two solid offensive performances on the road last week.
In last Tuesday’s 84-71 win at Notre Dame, the Seminoles shot 50.9% (27 of 53) from the field, and all five starters scored in double figures, led by Darin Green Jr.’s 20 points.
Then, in Saturday’s 71-64 win at Pittsburgh, the ‘Noles shot 51% (25 of 49) from the field and 50% (10 of 20) from three, with Green (24 points, 7 of 12 FG, 5 of 8 3PT, 5 of 5 FT) leading the way again.
The UCF transfer scored 16 of FSU’s final 26 points over the last 11:44 of the game, flipping a 50-45 deficit into a second straight road win.

Barring a wild run, it’s likely too late for FSU to even land an NIT bid, but the Seminoles are playing more like what we have come to expect from Leonard Hamilton’s teams.
I expect that to continue tonight against Miami, who will drop a fourth straight game on the road. The Seminoles have won six straight at home in this rivalry since a 67-65 loss on Valentine’s Day in 2016, and this matchup couldn’t be coming at a better time for them and a worse time for the Hurricanes.
For a little bonus pick, I also like Green, who is second in the ACC in three-point percentage (42.1%), to have another productive night.
At Bovada Sportsbook, you can back him to score over 15.5 points at pretty decent value. Green (14.6 PPG), has scored 16+ points nine times this season, including five times in ACC play.
