Undoubtedly, #4 Marquette vs. #1 UConn is the game everyone has had marked on their calendars for quite some time. This Big East homer is beyond thrilled to see two of the Big East’s best teams go head to head. Will the bias seep into the writing? Of course, but with reason.
These two teams come into this game red-hot, tearing apart the conference one game at a time. UConn has not lost since December 20th, and Marquette is on an 8-game winning streak. Who’s streak comes to an end on Saturday afternoon?

#4 Marquette vs #1 UConn Prediction
The Stank:
As a firm believer in the UConn Huskies, this will shock many, but today is a day to fade them. Wednesday in Chicago, the Huskies embarrassed the DePaul Blue Demons 101-65. A game where they could have parked the bus at halftime but went all out on one of the worst Power 5 teams ever assembled. I have to take the Golden Eagles on the spread in this one, just off UConn wasting their energy on DePaul.
I tease, I tease. That is not the only reason behind the wager.
The Golden Eagles are first in eFG offense in the last 30 days. They are rolling, and on the road, they excel. Defensively, a top-ten defense that forces a lot of turnovers. On the offensive end, they are in the top 50 in almost every category, according to Bart Torvik. Their biggest flaw is rebounding. They are not the best team at getting after the boards. UConn will have the rebounding advantage in this matchup.
This UConn team is arguably better than when they were crowned national champions a year ago. However, if Marquette can force turnovers and keep the rebounding battle close, they should be able to stay in this one. The spread itself feels slightly high. I thought it would come out around 5.5, but all the advanced analytics websites have this being a 6- and 7-point win for UConn.
I am riding with the dog in this one.

Where to find more advanced analytics
If you are looking for advanced analytic websites for college basketball Bart Torvik and Haslametrics are my favorite two. They are free and very informative. Ken Pom is another great resource, but sadly you have to pay.
Remember, these are mostly used as a crutch. Do not let these be the end all be all to making wagers. They are not always right with their predictions. Use your plums, trust your gut, and remember you cannot win them all. If you have any questions my socials are below I am always free to discuss anything college hoops. Especially, if it is over a game that will have under 23 people in attendance.
