For teams like Marquette and Creighton who are already March Madness locks, this time of the season is about trying to land the highest seed possible. So, today’s battle between the Golden Eagles and Bluejays carries a lot of importance for both teams.
How should you bet on this afternoon’s matchup in Omaha? Read on for our Marquette vs Creighton betting analysis, prediction, and picks.
Marquette vs Creighton Game Information
- Matchup: #5 Marquette (22-6, 13-4 Big East, 2nd in the Big East) vs #12 Creighton (21-8, 12-6 Big East, 3rd in the Big East)
- Date: Saturday, March 2, 2024
- Time: 2:30 pm ET
- Broadcast: FOX
With three regular season games remaining, Marquette’s Big East regular season title defense is almost over, with UConn (25-3, 15-2 Big East) in front by two games.weve
But if the Golden Eagles can win their final three games, including Tuesday’s home finale against the Huskies (8:30 pm ET, FS1), they will enter the Big East tournament very much in the mix to land a #1 seed on Selection Sunday.
As it stands, Purdue, UConn, and Houston appear to be locks or near-locks for three of the four top seeds. However, the fourth one is up for grabs between the likes of North Carolina, Tennessee, and Marquette.
A win today in Omaha will only strengthen Marquette’s case, but we are less than two weeks removed from one of the most impressive results of the college basketball season, Creighton’s 85-66 home win over UConn.
The Bluejays certainly aren’t impenetrable at home, with losses to Villanova and Butler on their ledger. But the rout of the Huskies showed what this team can be at its best, and if they display that level again today, a similar result is possible, if not probable.

Marquette vs Creighton Prediction and Picks
Marquette vs Creighton Betting Analysis and Prediction
When Creighton and Marquette met at Fiserv Forum on December 30, the Bluejays led by two after a low-scoring first half, but the Golden Eagles picked it up in the second half and went on to win 72-67.
Perhaps it was an effect of not playing for over a week during the holiday period, but neither team was firing on all cylinders in that first matchup.
Marquette won despite 29.0% from three and 36.8% from the field overall, while Creighton’s shooting percentages (45.5% FG and 37.5% from three) were helped by a big game by Baylor Scheierman (23 points, 8 of 15 FG, 7 of 13 3PT). Other than Scheierman, the Bluejays shot 42.5% (17 of 40) from the field overall and 26.3 (5 of 17) from outside.
Recent Marquette vs Creighton Head-to-Head Results
- December 30, 2023 (Milwaukee): Golden Eagles 72-67
- February 21, 2023 (Omaha): Golden Eagles 73-71
- December 16, 2022 (Milwaukee): Golden Eagles 69-58
- March 10, 2022 (2022 Big East Tournament): Bluejays 74-63
- February 20, 2022 (Omaha): Bluejays 83-82
Both teams rank in the top 25 at KenPom in both adjusted offensive efficiency (Creighton 11th, Marquette 21st) and adjusted defensive efficiency (Marquette 15th, Creighton 23rd), so it will be interesting to see what kind of game we get this time around.
If the Bluejays can hold the Golden Eagles under 70 points, they likely will win.
If it’s a higher-scoring game, the numbers are much more favorable for Marquette.
Marquette is 0-4 this season when held below 70 points (22-2 with losses to Purdue and at Seton Hall otherwise), while Creighton is 15-3 when holding teams below 70 points (6-5 otherwise), with the lone losses coming to Colorado State (69-48), Villanova (68-66), and UConn (62-48).
I do think that the Bluejays will take care of business in their home finale, but I think the Golden Eagles, who are 5-1 SU and 4-2 ATS in their last six road games, will manage to cover the spread. Creighton is 7-2 SU at home in Big East play, but they are just 3-6 ATS and just 7-8 ATS overall at home this season (13-2 SU).
Marquette vs Creighton Betting Picks
Marquette +5.5 & Kam Jones over 17.5 points
There is some concern surrounding the availability of Marquette star Tyler Kolek (oblique), the nation’s leader in assists per game. However, I think the Golden Eagles will compete even if Kolek (15.0 PPG, 4.7 RPG, 7.6 APG), must sit.
After all, the Golden Eagles were able to get the win and score 85 points in a tough matchup at Villanova without Kam Jones, their leading scorer. Creighton represents a bigger challenge, but the Golden Eagles have the horses for the course with or without Kolek.
Jones will be key to Marquette’s efforts, especially if Kolek is limited or out. He has had his ups and downs this season, but I expect him to put up a lot of shots today, and that volume will help get this one over the line even if he doesn’t light it up percentagewise.
