After rallying for a wild win over Clemson on Saturday, Duke will look for an 11th win in 12 games as they visit Virginia Tech in a nationally-televised Monday night matchup (7:00 pm ET, ESPN).
The Blue Devils (15-4, 6-2 ACC) trailed by four with under two minutes remaining but took a late one-point lead on Kyle Filipowski’s three-point play, only to give the lead back after Filipowski fouled Clemson’s PJ Hall, who sank two foul shots with seven seconds left.
Down 71-70 and staring at their second straight home loss, Duke needed a hero, and one emerged in Tyrese Proctor. Proctor was fouled with one second to go, and he calmly sank his two free throws to give the Blue Devils the lead and the 72-71 win.
A visit to Chapel Hill for a rivalry showdown with North Carolina is ahead on Saturday, but first, there’s a tricky trip to Blacksburg to battle through.
Cassell Coliseum has been a house of horrors for Duke in recent years, and for the Hokies (13-7, 5-4 ACC) to aid their hopes of landing on the right side of the March Madness bubble, that will need to be the case again tonight.

Duke vs Virginia Tech Prediction and Picks
Duke vs Virginia Tech Betting Analysis and Prediction
Since Duke’s most recent national championship-winning team eked out a 91-86 OT win in Blacksburg in February 2015, the Blue Devils have won at Cassell Coliseum just once in six attempts, a 77-63 win in December 2019.
Will this visit play out differently for Duke?
This season, the Hokies are 10-1 SU and 6-4-1 at home. Their four-point loss to Miami came with Cattoor absent after being kicked in the head against Clemson days prior. Given Cattoor’s value to the team and his numbers since returning (14.8 PPG, 3.8 RPG, 3.3 APG, 1.8 SPG, 54.8% FG, 50.0% 3PT), there’s a good chance that result would have been different had he played.
Duke did well to pull out a close win over Clemson, even though the Tigers have come back down to earth in ACC play after a hot start. But while they are 3-1 SU and ATS this season when favored by five or fewer points, they are 2-4 SU and 0-6 ATS in games decided by five or fewer points.

Virginia Tech +3.5 & Duke/Virginia Tech over 146
Winning on the road has been a tough proposition for many talented teams, including the Blue Devils.
With how well many teams are defending their home court, road wins might take on even more value. Unfortunately for Duke, they won’t be adding to their resume tonight. Halloween season was a few months ago, but another horror night in Blacksburg beckons.
