We have been absolutely spoiled with must watch ACC conference games to start the new year. Last night the blue bloods dog walked their conference foes. North Carolina demolished Pitt by 13 points and Duke tore apart Syracuse beating them 86-66.
Tonight the Miami Hurricanes host No. 16 Clemson Tigers (8:00pm ET, ESPN). Both teams looking for their second conference win of the season.

#16 Clemson vs Miami Prediction and Picks
Coming into this game the Clemson Tigers look to make a splash in the ACC, as they have been playing outstanding basketball to start the season. Already 11-1 on the year beating some of the nation’s best, Alabama, TCU, Pitt, and Memphis all of which were played on road-neutral sites. They have the making of an ACC title team and the potential of doing some serious damage in the tournament. The season is still young, so we will not go too far and say they are a dark horse to win it all.
Meanwhile, the Miami Hurricanes have had some impressive wins to start the year off as well, beating UCF, Georgia, and Kansas State. Heading into conference play 10-2 the two losses came against two top 20 schools. This should have any team buzzing. They look to squander the Tigers’ hopes of making some early noise in ACC conference play.
This will easily be the game of the night, two teams inside the top 50 in Bart Torvik’s rankings. It will be glorious.
Let’s dive into this bad boy!
The Stank
The line opened at Clemson (-2.5) and has gradually moved to Clemson (-1) on some books, it could close with Miami being the favorite. Regardless if the sharps are on Miami or not. I will be riding with Clemson in this one. I have to stick to my guns even if it is stinky.
Clemson checks off all of my boxes. They have been battle-tested, 37th in strength in schedule, according to Haslametrics. The Tigers have proven they can play away from their home court. Having a 5-1 record in road-neutral matchups. Three of those five wins coming against teams inside the top 50. This is a very dangerous team on both sides of the ball. Clemson is top 25 in effective field goal offense and defense in road-neutral games. Their biggest flaw on the road this season is forcing turnovers. They are bottom ten in turnover percentage.
Adding on to how good Clemson is, they have one of the most underrated players in the country senior, PJ Hall. The 6-foot-10 forward has been on a tear all season long, averaging 20.5 points per game while recording 6.5 rebounds and 2.4 blocks per game. In the Tigers’ 85-77 victory over Alabama, Hall went off for 21 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 blocks. He also shot 54.5% from the floor and knocked down three of five from behind the arc.

Both of these teams are very similar, with little to no weaknesses. However, Miami has not been tested the way Clemson has. The Hurricanes are 230th in strength in schedule, according to Haslametrics. Their most impressive win came against UCF back on November 10th. Clemson will be their first opponent inside the top 15 in Bart Torvik’s rankings. I will always ride with a team that has proven they can go toe to toe with the best of the best. That does not mean Miami can’t come out and put a whooping on the Tigers, but I am still riding with the Tigers. Trust the process *Joel Embiid Voice*.
Concerns: Miami is 13th in away/home court advantage according to Haslametrics. How is that measured? No idea, but I trust my good friend Erik Haslam and his model. However, if this is the only true advantage the Hurricanes have in this game. I can live with that.
Prediction: Clemson wins in a close one

Where to find more advanced analytics
If you are looking for advanced analytic websites for college basketball the ones I have mentioned above are my favorite two. They are free and very informative. Ken Pom is another great resource, but sadly you have to pay.
Remember, these are mostly used as a crutch. Do not let these be the end all be all to making wagers. They are not always right with their predictions. Use your plums, trust your gut, and remember you cannot win them all. If you have any questions my socials are below I am always free to discuss anything college hoops. Especially, if it is over a game that will have under 23 people in attendance.
