The Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament starts tomorrow, Tuesday, March 12th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn and what a showdown this week will be!
In what is a likely a two bid conference, everyone is fighting for the right to go to the Big Dance.
Let’s take a look at the bracket.
Atlantic-10 Conference Tournament Bracket
In a 15 team conference, it totally makes sense to reward the four best teams by putting them in the quarterfinals, and you will see the odds reflect such.
Let’s check out the odds and then find some dark horses.

- Dayton +150
- Richmond +475
- Loyola-Chicago +550
- UMass +700
- VCU +1000
- St. Bonaventure +1200
- Duquesne +1400
- George Mason +1500
- Saint Joe’s +2500
- Davidson +5000
I left the real long-shots off the list, (Fordham and La Salle nest at 350-1) as I don’t see any one winning five games to take this tournament.
To me, this likely stays within the Top 4 teams, so let me tell you what I’m thinking.
Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament Best Bets
The 25th ranked Dayton Flyers have an absolutely cake walk to the A-10 Championship Game in my opinion. Now they aren’t fighting for their season like the rest of the conference, however they are looking to build some momentum going into March.
The Flyers didn’t lose at home this season, and lost just once on a neutral court to then #6, now #1, Houston, in their 5th game of the season. Dayton will see most likely Duquesne in the quarterfinals whom, they beat by double digits twice, followed by a rematch with Sister Jean and the Ramblers. Only this time, it won’t be in Chicago.
I think the Flyers are much better compared to the Ramblers, and love them to handle business on a neutral floor in a conference semifinal.
Despite the chalk, I like a sprinkle on Dayton at plus money, as they will more than likely be favored in a Championship matchup.
Come Sunday I’d love to have a Flyers +150 ticket in my back pocket.

Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament Dark Horse Picks
As far as Dark Horses go, I see a couple worth sprinkling on, but unfortunately for us, they are all on the same side of the bracket.
Richmond Spiders (+475)
The Top Seeded Spiders are nearly 5-1 to win the tournament, likely because they’ll face Dayton in a revenge spot in the Championship game. That’s a tough task, even for a team that won 18 of their last 21 to close out the season. Although, Richmond could face some tough competition in the semifinal, which leads me to my next two Dark Horses.
UMass Minutemen (+700)
VCU Rams (+1000)
Now these teams likely see each other in the quarterfinals, assuming the Rams can get by either Fordham or Davidson.
Ironically these teams were two of the three that were able to knock off the Spiders in the regular season, and with VCU splitting their series, I think either could do it again.
In my personal A-10 bracket which can be found on my twitter, I have UMass beating VCU and upsetting Richmond once again. I think at 7-1 its worth a stab, but the Minutemen will have three tough games to get there.
If VCU were to topple UMass, I’d love having a 10-1 future ticket on the Rams with a chance to hedge in the semifinal on the Spiders. I think sprinkles on these Dark Horses could be worth it and I think this conference has plenty of hedge spots.
