#9 Creighton vs #8 Louisville Best Bet
If you are a Louisville fan living in Kentucky and you are not going to this game, you hate March, you hate the Cardinals, and you hate Louisville. The opportunity of a lifetime is being handed to the Cardinals—a first-round NCAA Tournament game against Creighton in Rupp Arena. You could not ask for a better opening matchup for this Louisville team.
Since February 1, the Cardinals have been outstanding away from home, boasting the 46th-best offense and the 14th-best defense, per Bart Torvik. They rank inside the top 35 in both two-point offense and defense while also sitting inside the top 85 in free throw rate defense and defensive rebounding.
Creighton, on the other hand, has had its share of struggles away from home. Despite having a top 55 offense and defense, they have glaring weaknesses—ranking 13th-worst in turnover defense, 293rd in offensive rebounding, 306th in free throw rate offense, 289th in three-point percentage, and 315th in offensive block percentage. These are all areas where Louisville has thrived and will look to exploit on Thursday.
Creighton is a talented team, but even with two wins in the Big East Tournament, I was unimpressed—especially against DePaul. It took them until the final ten minutes of that game to start utilizing their best players. This game in Lexington will be too much for them, and the Cardinals should roll into the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Best Bet: Louisville Moneyline (-145) on BetOnline
