#7 Marquette vs DePaul Bet
Do you want the quick “hurry it up, I need to be somewhere” breakdown or my full analysis? Oh, the quick version?
MARQUETTE IS PLAYING DEPAUL!
Alright, let us get down to business. Marquette enters Wintrust Arena riding a five-game winning streak, but they have only covered the spread in one of those games. Meanwhile, DePaul has not won a game since December 28th when they faced Loyola Maryland. That was also the last time they managed to cover the spread. Their conference losing streak dates back to March 8, 2023. It is now January 14, 2025. To make matters worse, this DePaul team has only regressed as the season has progressed.
Welcome Home Marquette!
Today, we are fading DePaul once again—this time on their home court. Why? Because this will effectively be a home game for Marquette. Golden Eagles fans only need to travel an hour and a half south to Chicago, and the city is packed with Marquette alumni. Expect Wintrust Arena to feel like enemy territory for the Blue Demons.
Marquette, even on the road, boasts a top-20 offense and defense this season, ranking inside the top 100 in nearly every statistical category. Their main weakness is getting to the free-throw line, where they rank 33rd worst nationally.
DePaul’s ranking as the second-best home team in the country is misleading, inflated by a soft early schedule. They opened the season with seven straight home games against mostly subpar competition ranked in the high 200s to mid-300s. Against top-100 teams, the Blue Demons have struggled mightily, ranking 299th in effective field goal defense, 288th in turnover defense, and 23rd worst in three-point defense. On the other hand, Marquette ranks 45th in three-point rate and is the 98th best team in three-point percentage on the road. This spells trouble for DePaul.
Chris Holtmann on Conor Enright’s injury/noticeable brace:
Holtmann confirmed that Enright did dislocate his shoulder versus Villanova.
“I wouldn’t put it past him to rip that thing (shoulder brace) off at some point.” Holtmann said. “Our trainers are going to make sure that he…

To make matters worse for the Blue Demons, their best player, Conor Enright, is dealing with a shoulder injury after dislocating it on January 4th against Villanova. Enright is the heart and soul of this team, averaging 7.5 points, 6.6 assists, and 3.5 rebounds per game. Without him at full strength, DePaul will struggle to stay competitive.
With DePaul’s conference losing streak showing no signs of ending, I am backing Marquette to cover the 13.5-point spread. Fade DePaul.
Best Bet: Marquette (-13.5) on BetOnline
