Well, I have officially been 27 years old for exactly one month and the only thing that is keeping me young are these college basketball games.
Here is one of my favorite games on the Hump Day slate.

#15 Wisconsin vs Ohio State Prediction:
Big Ten basketball has been pure entertainment so far this season, a lot of teams have made massive strides from a year ago. Especially, Wisconsin a year ago this team struggled offensively and were very inconsistent with their shots. Now, 7th best in offensive adjusted efficiency, according to Bart Torvik’s rankings. They are an all-around fantastic team.
The Badgers head to Columbus to take on an Ohio State team that has been playing some solid ball. The Buckeyes are 12-3 on the year, two of those losses coming in conference play. Meanwhile, they have had some impressive wins this season, coming against Alabama, Minnesota, and Rutgers.
This should be one of the more competitive games on the slate and without further ado let’s get to the stank!
The Stank:
The Initial stank should be the number. Why is an unranked Ohio State team favored against the No. 15 ranked team in the nation? Remember, if something is fishy, it is for a reason. The books are not giving winners. No such animal. Let’s dive deeper into this.
Ohio State is coming off a tough loss against Indiana as one-point favorites on the road. Four days later at home favored by one-point again.
This will be yet again, a system play for me. Another thing I look for in college sports is unranked home favorites facing a ranked opponent. I do not live and die by this rule, but this situation entices me.

The Buckeyes have been fantastic at home, 8-1 on the year with their lone loss coming against Texas A&M back on November 10th. Since that loss to A&M, the Buckeyes have been on a 7-game home winning streak. Ohio State is top 20 in offensive-adjusted efficiency and top 45 in defensive-adjusted efficiency since that streak started on November 15th.
A huge advantage the Buckeyes will have in this matchup is shooting the three-ball. Although Wisconsin has been playing stellar defense, their biggest flaw is their three-point defense. In road/neutral matchups the Badgers are allowing their opponents to shoot 40.6% from behind the arc (12th worst). Luckily, Ohio State is not too reliant on the deep ball and they are solid on the inside as well.
All things considered, I think this game will be close for the entire game coming down to the wire. Be sure to grab a towel, it might get sweaty.
Prediction: Ohio State Wins Upsetting #15 Wisconsin
Concerns: The Badgers are 6-3 against top 100 schools, they have had the 6th toughest schedule, according to Haslametrics. I am a sucker for a team that has been tested by the best of the best. However, I love a team that is coming off a tough loss and looking to turn it around at home.

Where to find more advanced analytics
If you are looking for advanced analytic websites for college basketball the ones I have mentioned above are my favorite two. They are free and very informative. Ken Pom is another great resource, but sadly you have to pay.
Remember, these are mostly used as a crutch. Do not let these be the end all be all to making wagers. They are not always right with their predictions. Use your plums, trust your gut, and remember you cannot win them all. If you have any questions my socials are below I am always free to discuss anything college hoops. Especially, if it is over a game that will have under 23 people in attendance.
