Warriors vs Rockets NBA Cup Predictions & Picks (12/11)
Not only is tonight’s matchup a quarterfinal tilt, but it’s also the third Warriors vs. Rockets clash of the 2024-25 NBA season.
The first two encounters went the Warriors’ way as they picked up a 127-121 road win against the Rockets on Nov. 2 before tallying a 99-93 victory at Chase Center one month later. Golden State’s success isn’t anything new, though as Steve Kerr’s team now owns 10 consecutive wins over Houston, outscoring the latter by an average of 11.9 points per game.
The Warriors will look to keep that success going following Sunday’s 114-106 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves. They now have two wins in their last three outings, leaving time to tell if they can win consecutive outings for the first time in nearly three weeks.
As for the Rockets, they avoided a third straight loss with a 117-106 win against the LA Clippers over the weekend. Houston is now back at Toyota Center, where it’s an impressive 7-1 SU across its last eight home games. Ime Udoka’s squad has only lost three times at home all season, however, it’s worth noting that one of those losses came against the Warriors.
The Rockets have been extremely difficult to defeat at Toyota Center this season.
Both teams averaged similar point totals this season, however, it’s Golden State that’s more accurate offensively. The Warriors are shooting 45.4% from the floor (22nd) and 36.9% from deep (14th) to begin the campaign whereas the Rockets are averaging 43.9 FG% (27th) and 33.1 3P% (26th).
Defensively, these Western Conference franchises are among the best in the Association. The Warriors are allowing 109.2 PPG (6th) on a 43.8 FG% (3rd) and 33.4 3P% (2nd) while the Rockets are giving up an average of 106.6 PPG (3rd) as their opponents shoot 43.3% from the field (2nd) and 34.1% from the three-point line (5th).
Another thing going against the Rockets is that they’re only 1-7 ATS in their last eight meetings with the Warriors, which doesn’t bode well for the former’s status as the 2.5-point favorite. Considering how Golden State has two six-point wins over Houston this season, it’s clear that the latter needs to step up if it wants to cover tonight.
The Warriors have covered the spread seven times in their last eight games against the Rockets.
Even though the oddsmakers are favoring the Rockets, I’m taking the Warriors tonight. Golden State hasn’t lost to Houston since February 2020, winning the last 15 matchups between these franchises. I know that the Rockets have made serious improvements this season, but it’s clear that they always come up short against the Warriors.
The trend will end eventually, however, I don’t see that happening tonight — especially as long as the Rockets’ accuracy issues continue.
With that in mind, let’s take the Warriors on the first-half moneyline (+100) for the best game bet. After all, the Warriors led the Rockets by an average of 12.0 points in the two previous matchups this season, including a six-point lead when they last faced off at Toyota Center. If Kerr’s players can get off to another strong start, I see history repeating itself.

Best Warriors vs Rockets NBA Player Prop (12/11)
There are some solid Warriors vs. Rockets player props available tonight, including Jonathan Kuminga o16.5 total points (-115 on SportsBetting).
After missing two games due to injury, Kuminga has been solid in the action following his return. The ex-2021 seventh-overall pick is averaging 19.3 points while shooting 45.2% from the floor in his last six games, finishing with at least 17 points in four of those contests — including when he tallied a 20-point effort against the Timberwolves on Sunday.
Kuminga will look to keep the ball rolling against the Rockets, who he’s dominated this season. In his two previous encounters with Houston, the 22-year-old forward recorded efforts of 23 and 33 points while shooting at least 58.3% from the floor in both games. Based on how he’s been performing lately, I expect Kuminga to hit the Over again.
