After capitulating in the second half in a home loss to the Brooklyn Nets, the consistently inconsistent Los Angeles Lakers will look to get back to the .500 mark tonight with a win over the Portland Trail Blazers (10:00 pm ET).
In Friday’s matchup with the Nets, the Lakers (21-22, 15-8 home) were facing a team that had won just one of their previous ten games and just four of their previous 19.
For a half, it looked like the Lakers might be on their way to a comfortable win. But after leading by six at halftime, they were outscored 68-44 in the second half and fell 130-112, falling for the 13th time in their last 20 games since winning the NBA In-Season Tournament last month.
A better night should be ahead against the Trail Blazers (12-29, 5-17 away), who have the second-worst record in the Western Conference and have been terrible on the road. But Portland enters tonight’s contest at Crypto.com Arena with consecutive wins, which they have rarely done over the last year.

Portland Trail Blazers vs Los Angeles Lakers Prediction and Picks
Trail Blazers vs Lakers Betting Analysis and Prediction
On February 3 of last year, the Trail Blazers were 26-26 after a win at Washington. Since then, they are just 19-52 SU, including 9-27 SU on the road, and have won two or more games in a row only four times.
However, their ATS numbers in that stretch are not atrocious, as they are 30-40-1 ATS overall, including 18-18 ATS on the road.
Unfortunately, those road numbers have taken a serious hit as of late. After going 7-4 ATS in their first 11 road games this season, the Trail Blazers are just 3-8 ATS in their last 11 road games (1-10 SU). As it happens, the lone SU win coming on January 7 in OT against the same Nets team that dominated the Lakers in the second half on Friday.
Does that mean anything? No, it doesn’t, other than perhaps further highlight just how infuriatingly inconsistent the Lakers are right now.
That said, as infuriatingly inconsistent as they are, that means the only reasonable result to expect tonight is a blowout win, which will likely be followed by them laying an ostrich egg against the rival Clippers on Tuesday night (10:00 pm ET, TNT).
Prediction: Lakers to win and cover

Picks listed below are courtesy of Bovada. Bet these plays at Bovada and get a 75% WELCOME BONUS if your first deposit is via cryptocurrency.
- Anthony Davis over 12.5 rebounds (-120 at Bovada): In the two previous meetings with the Trail Blazers this season, AD had 13 and 14 rebounds, and he is averaging 13.5 RPG over his last four games.
- LeBron James over 40.5 points + rebounds + assists (+100 at Bovada): In the In-Season Tournament matchup against the Blazers, LeBron had 35 points, five boards, and nine dimes. There aren’t any high stakes for tonight’s game, but he doesn’t like losing, so we might get angry, inspired LeBron tonight after how things transpired against the Nets.
