The Timberwolves head to Cleveland after Anthony Edwards’ 44-point effort led them to a 113-111 win over the Indiana Pacers last night. Meanwhile, the short-handed Cavaliers attempt to return to the win column after falling 112-101 to the Atlanta Hawks earlier this week.
As usual, tonight’s game features plenty of betting opportunities. Fortunately, this article is here to help as we explore my Timberwolves vs. Cavaliers predictions and best bets.

Timberwolves vs Cavaliers Prediction & NBA Picks Today (3/8): Which Side Will Overcome Injuries?
Both the Timberwolves and Cavaliers have their fair share of injuries ahead of their first clash of the 2023-24 season.
It was revealed on Thursday that Minnesota’s Karl-Anthony Towns is dealing with a torn meniscus and will miss the foreseeable future. The four-time NBA All-Star has been one of the T-wolves’ best players, averaging 22.1 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game.
Additionally, the Timberwolves’ Monte Morris is questionable for tonight’s contest after exiting last night’s victory with a hamstring injury.
The Cavaliers’ injury situation isn’t any better as Donovan Mitchell (knee), Evan Mobley (ankle), and Max Strus (knee) have all been ruled out.
Donovan Mitchell (ankle) won’t be suiting up for the Cavaliers on Friday.
But even without Towns, the Timberwolves still managed to defeat the Pacers less than 24 hours ago. The victory was far from perfect, though, as Minnesota only shot 46.9% from the floor and 28.0% from the three-point line.
The Timberwolves also led by 11 points at halftime, so the fact that they only won by two is a bit concerning.
The good news for the visitors is that the Cavaliers are playing inconsistently as of late. After an impressive run to begin the new year, the Cavs are only 4-5 SU across their last nine games, losing to teams like Atlanta Hawks, Chicago Bulls, and Orlando Magic.
Cleveland is also struggling to cover the spread, going 2-9 ATS in its last 11 games as well as 1-5 ATS across its last six home outings. Minnesota is only 1-5 ATS in its six previous matchups, however, it has covered the spread in five consecutive road games.
That’s without even mentioning how the Timberwolves are 6-1 ATS in their last seven meetings with the Cavaliers.
The Timberwolves have consistently covered the spread against the Cavaliers over the last few years.
Tonight, I’m taking the Timberwolves to win. The Cavaliers just don’t look good without Mitchell and Mobley, their two best players. The Timberwolves might not have Towns, but the likes of Edwards, Rudy Gobert, and Mike Conley more than make up for KAT’s absence.
It also helps that Minnesota is 7-2 SU when playing on zero days of rest this season.
I also expect more than 207.5 points to be scored tonight. For starters, the Over is 7-2 in the Timberwolves’ last nine Friday games on top of the fact that five of their last six games finished with 208 or more points.
And even though the Under is 4-1 across the Cavaliers’ last five games, all but one of those contests finished with more than tonight’s projected total.
Considering how the Over hit in 11 of the last 16 Timberwolves-Cavaliers clashes, it’s clear what the right choice is.

Best Timberwolves vs Cavaliers NBA Prop Bet (3/8)
With Towns sidelined, I’m taking Anthony Edwards o29.5 points as the best Timberwolves vs. Cavaliers player prop pick.
The former 2020 first-overall selection has been terrific lately, averaging 29.5 points on 47.3% across his last 10 games, finishing with the Over on this prop six times — including in all three road tilts during that stretch. He’s also stepped up when Towns has missed time, averaging a whopping 37.3 PPG in the last three games that the big man has missed.
After scoring 44 points last night, I expect more big things for the former Georgia Bulldog.
