Thunder vs Spurs NBA Cup Predictions & Picks (11/19)
Both teams are heading into tonight’s NBA Cup group stage matchup looking to rebound from recent losses.
The Thunder saw a three-game win streak snapped with Sunday’s 121-119 loss to the Dallas Mavericks. Even though the defeat temporarily halted all momentum, it’s worth pointing out that Oklahoma City has yet to lose back-to-back outings this season, having gone 2-0 SU with a plus-12.5 average scoring margin following their first two losses this season.
Meanwhile, the Spurs have now lost two games in a row after falling 110-93 to the Mavericks on Saturday. San Antonio has experienced bright spots this season, however, it’s clear that the franchise is trending in the wrong direction with a 3-5 SU record in the last eight games.
Pulling off the road upset will be even harder if Victor Wembanyama (knee, doubtful) can’t play tonight. The former 2023 first-overall pick has been the Spurs’ most important player this season as he’s averaged 22.7 points, 10.5 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 3.7 blocks, and 1.3 steals through his first 13 games.
Do the Spurs have what it takes to win tonight even though Victor Wembanyama (knee) likely won’t play?
The injury bug has also hit the Thunder, who have already been without Jaylin Williams (hamstring), Chet Holmgren (hip), and Isaiah Hartenstein (hand). Isaiah Joe is just the latest player to join the list as the team announced on Monday that he won’t be facing the Spurs due to a left calf injury.
But even without Joe not playing, Oklahoma might be perfectly fine tonight. After all, the Thunder have gotten the better of the Spurs more often than not lately, winning seven of the last eight matchups between these Western Conference franchises. That’s without mentioning how San Antonio has only covered the spread twice in its last seven home games against OKC.
Let’s also not forget how the Spurs are only 3-7 SU as underdogs during the 2024-25 campaign, whereas the Thunder are 10-3 SU as the favorites. Oklahoma City also has a 61.5% success rate when it comes to covering the spread as the favorite this season, which ranks sixth-best in the NBA. Meanwhile, the Spurs are 4-6 ATS (40.0%) as underdogs.
The Thunder have thrived as betting favorites early in the 2024-25 NBA season. Will that trend continue tonight?
I won’t overthink things: this game is the Thunder’s to lose tonight. They’re clearly the better team of the pair and their early dominance this season proves that fact. The Spurs have a bright future, however, their presently trending in the wrong direction and I expect that to continue with Wembanyama unlikely to suit up. Even though OKC is banged up, too, it has enough talent left over to return to the win column.
Regardless of who wins, though, take the Over on the 223.5-point total. Not only is the Over 6-3 in the Spurs’ last nine games but it’s also 5-2 in the Thunder’s seven previous outings. With both sides also dealing with injuries, I won’t be shocked if we don’t see much defense in San Antonio.
Thunder vs. Spurs NBA Emirates Cup Prediction: OKC wins

Best Thunder vs Spurs NBA Player Prop (11/19)
I’m taking Shai Gilgeous-Alexander o1.5 threes made (-103) for tonight’s best Thunder vs. Spurs player prop bet.
Shooting from the outside this season has been tough for Gilgeous-Alexander, who’s only averaging 1.7 threes on a career-low 31.6% success rate. Having said that, the Canadian guard’s luck has turned around lately as he’s averaging 2.5 threes made while shooting 43.5% from deep in his last four outings — a stretch where the Over on this prop is 3-1.
While the Spurs know how to play well defensively, they’re still allowing the 14th-highest three-point percentage this season. That’s without mentioning how they’re also surrendering the fourth-most three-pointers to point guards.
In other words, Gilgeous-Alexander has a great chance to continue his recent three-point success on the road.
Best Thunder vs. Spurs Player Prop: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander o1.5 Threes Made (-103)
