Thunder vs Nuggets NBA Predictions & Picks (10/24)
The Thunder and Nuggets will look to hit the ground running after unfortunate ends to their 2023-24 postseason runs. Both sides were sent packing in Round 2 as Oklahoma City lost to the Dallas Mavericks — who reached the NBA Finals — in six games while Denver went the distance against the Minnesota Timberwolves, ultimately losing in seven contests.
When it came to games between these teams, the Thunder and Nuggets collided four times last season. Oklahoma City wound up winning three of those collisions, which included a 2-0 record and a plus-13.5 average scoring margin in two outings at Ball Arena.
As the Thunder look to continue that trend, they’ll turn to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander for help. The 26-year-old superstar was the 2023-24 NBA MVP runner-up after averaging 30.1 points, 6.2 assists, and 5.5 rebounds across 75 games. The good news for Gilgeous-Alexander is that he has a terrific supporting cast that includes Chet Holmgren, Jalen Williams, and offseason acquisition Alex Caruso.
Will Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the Thunder continue to find success over the Nuggets?
As for the Nuggets, Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray, and Michael Porter Jr. are still running the show. Having said that, Russell Westbrook joined the cast on a two-year contract during the summer, leaving time to reveal how he fits into Denver’s plans — especially after the team lost Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Reggie Jackson.
If the Nuggets want to win tonight, they must take advantage of the Thunder’s injury situation. Oklahoma City will be without Jaylin Williams (hamstring), Kenrich Williams (knee), and Isaiah Hartenstein (hand) tonight while Nikola Topic has already been ruled out for the year with an ACL injury.
As for the Nuggets, they’ll only be without first-round rookie DaRon Holmes II, who tore his Achilles during the NBA Summer League.
Taking all of the above into account, I’m predicting a Nuggets win tonight. Not only will they be motivated by tonight being their home opener, but the Nuggets will also want some revenge for last season’s series against the Thunder. OKC will put up a fight, however, its injury situation will prevent this from being a close game.
In other words, taking the Nuggets to cover the spread at Ball Arena.

Best Thunder vs Nuggets NBA Player Prop (10/24)
While there are plenty of solid Thunder vs. Nuggets player prop bets out there, I’m going with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander o30.5 points (-114) this evening.
For starters, Gilgeous-Alexander finished with 31-plus points in 46-of-75 regular-season appearances (61.3%) last year before hitting the Over in half of his 10 postseason outings. He also tends to step up his game against the Nuggets. In his last seven games against Denver, the former Kentucky producing is averaging 29.7 PPG on .507/.333/.941 shooting splits while finishing with the Over on this prop five times.
Considering how he dropped a 40-piece on his last trip to Ball Arena on Dec. 29, I have faith that Gilgeous-Alexander has a big performance in store for Thursday.
Thunder vs. Nuggets Player Prop: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander o30.5 Points (-114)
