The NBA has nine matchups scheduled for Tuesday, April 2 — including a pair of national broadcasts on TNT. The first of the pair pits the Oklahoma City Thunder (52-22) head-to-head against the Philadelphia 76ers (40-35) at Wells Fargo Center at 7:30 p.m. ET.

The Thunder are feeling themselves after Sunday’s 113-112 win over the New York Knicks helped them clinch a playoff spot. Meanwhile, Kelly Oubre Jr.’s season-high 32-point performance in a 135-120 victory against the Toronto Raptors helped the 76ers end a three-game skid over the weekend.
Both teams are expected to be in the mix for this year’s championship, per BetOnline. The sportsbook currently lists Oklahoma City with the fifth-best 2023-24 NBA Finals odds (+1400) while Philadelphia sits in a tie for ninth at +3300.
And, of course, tonight’s contest is littered with betting opportunities that you won’t want to miss. Let’s explore some of them by getting into my Thunder vs. 76ers NBA prediction and best bets.

Thunder vs 76ers Prediction & NBA Picks Today (4/2): Will Embiid Return?
All eyes are on the 76ers tonight as they anticipate the potential return of their best player, Joel Embiid. The former NBA MVP hasn’t played since Jan. 30 due to a knee injury, however, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported on Monday that Embiid is expected to return this week, potentially as early as tonight.
The 30-year-old veteran was playing phenomenally before getting hurt, averaging a career-high 35.3 points on 53.3% shooting while adding 11.3 rebounds, 5.7 assists, and 1.8 blocks per game. It’s also worth noting that Philadelphia owns a 34.1% winning percentage when Embiid misses a game this season compared to 76.5% when he does play.
But whether or not Embiid plays, winning won’t be easy for the 76ers tonight. The Thunder have been one of the best teams throughout the 2023-24 campaign and have only gotten better as the season progresses, proven by their 73.1% winning percentage since Feb. 1 ranking second-best in the NBA during that stretch.
For comparison, the Sixers’ 37.9% success rate since the beginning of February is eighth-worst league-wide.
The Thunder continue to look better as the 2023-24 NBA schedule continues.
Another thing going against the 76ers is the fact that they’re only 2-7 SU (22.2%, 22nd) as home underdogs this season. On the flip side, the Thunder are 16-9 SU (18th) when the odds are in their favor on the road.
Oklahoma City tends to perform well on the road in general. When it comes to away stats, the Thunder rank fifth in points, fourth in field-goal percentage, second in three-point percentage, first in steals, and sixth in blocks. Their plus-3.4 average scoring margin also ranks sixth.
Meanwhile, the 76ers are struggling in the City of Brotherly Love, dropping 10 of their last 14 home games. They’re averaging a putrid 106.4 PPG during that span while only shooting the ball 43.3% from the floor and 34.2% from deep.
The Thunder are also out for revenge tonight after falling 127-123 to the 76ers in November, marking the seventh loss of their last eight meetings. Having said that, OKC is 5-1 SU in its last six road games and even covered the spread in four of its five previous trips to Philly.
Do the 76ers have what it takes to pick up another win against the Thunder?
When it comes to tonight’s prediction, I’m rolling with the Thunder. It isn’t guaranteed that Embiid will play today and it’s no secret that the 76ers are worse without him. Even if he suits up, it might take a few games for him to return to form. Couple that with the way that Philadelphia has played at home, and it’s easy to like Oklahoma City’s chances.
As for the best bet, we’ll stick with the Over on the 224-point total due to both sides’ inconsistencies against the spread lately.
The Over is also 4-1 in the Thunder’s last five games (231.2 PPG) while also hitting in four of the 76ers’ five previous outings (226.6 PPG). Considering how Oklahoma City and Philadelphia surpassed 224 points in both of their last two matchups, averaging 248.5 PPG, I’m predicting fireworks tonight.

Even though I’m projecting a Thunder victory, I won’t be shocked if Tyrese Maxey has a big game. That’s why I’m taking him to record over 25.5 points.
Even though he’s “only” averaging 24.9 points in his last 13 games, Maxey has finished with the Over eight times. He also has been playing well at home lately, finishing with 26-plus points in six of his last eight games at Wells Fargo Center — including in each of the last four.
After dropping 28 points against the Thunder earlier this season, looking for Maxey to keep that trend going.
