The Phoenix Suns (27-20) continue their seven-game road trip with a stop against the Brooklyn Nets (19-27) at 8:30 p.m. ET on Wednesday, Jan. 31. Additionally, tonight’s contest marks Kevin Durant’s return to Brooklyn.
"No tribute video. Nah, it should be love."
"They got to praise him because he didn't have to go there."

After back-to-back losses, the Suns returned to the win column with Monday’s 118-105 victory over the Miami Heat. The Nets, on the other hand, look for their third consecutive win after Mikal Bridges’ game-high 33 points paved the way to a 147-114 win against the Utah Jazz earlier this week.
These teams head into tonight’s game with vastly different championship odds. While Phoenix is currently tied for the fifth-best 2023-24 NBA Finals odds, Brooklyn is tied for the fifth-worst (+50000), per BetOnline’s NBA futures.
With some great betting opportunities on the table tonight, you’ll want to keep reading this Suns vs. Nets preview for my predictions and best bets.

Suns vs Nets Prediction & Pick (1/31): Kevin Durant Returns
With the Suns visiting Brooklyn tonight, it’s no surprise that everyone is talking about Kevin Durant’s return. The 14-time NBA All-Star was traded from the Nets to the Suns last February after joining Brooklyn just over three years before that.
For the most part, Durant has been his usual self this season, averaging 28.3 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 5.7 assists with .531/.452/.874 shooting splits. Having said that, his offensive play has been down lately, tallying 16.8 PPG on .528/.313/.667 splits.
The Suns need Durant to return to form if they hope to beat the Nets, who just dropped 147 points two nights ago. Eight different Brooklyn players recorded double-digit point totals that night as the team shot 51.4% from the field and 46.7% from the three-point line.
Will the Nets have another strong team effort to upset the Suns tonight?
Another 140-plus-point effort might not be easy, though, considering how the Suns have one of the best road defenses. On top of allowing the eighth-fewest points with the seventh-best defensive efficiency on the road, Phoenix holds its away opponents to a 47.5 FG% (3rd) and 35.9 3P% (8th).
You can also assume that the Suns will be out for revenge after falling 116-112 to the Nets back on Dec. 13. The Suns had the lead head into the fourth quarter but couldn’t hang on as the Nets pulled off the upset at Footprint Center.
Having said that, Phoenix did win four straight games against Brooklyn before that loss. In fact, the Suns have also won back-to-back trips to Barclays Center by an average of five points.
It’s also worth noting that the Suns have a 62.5% winning percentage in non-conference matchups this season (13th) whereas the Nets sit at 31.6% (26th) in that regard.
Even if the road trip hasn’t gone perfectly thus far, I’m picking the Suns to win tonight. They’ve been better than the Nets throughout the season and Durant will be determined to pick up a victory in his return to Brooklyn. Everyone knows how good he is when he’s focused on a goal, so expect big things from the visitors.
As for the best bet, let’s take the Suns outright. Phoenix thrives as the road favorite, going 9-4 SU in that role while Brooklyn is a putrid 3-10 SU as the home underdog. As mentioned before, the Suns have also won four of their last five meetings against the Nets, which includes back-to-back visits to Barclays.
With how the season has unfolded thus far, I’d be surprised if the Suns don’t emerge victorious.

Best Suns vs Nets NBA Prop Bet (1/31)
After checking out the Suns vs. Nets player props, I’m comfortable taking the Over on Devin Booker’s 29.5-point total.
Booker has been playing fantastic lately, averaging 34.9 points with a 55.2 FG% in his last 10 games. The Suns sharpshooter hit the Over on this prop six times during that stretch, which includes three efforts of 44 or more points in his last four games.
The Over is also 4-1 in Booker’s last five encounters with the Nets. That includes when he dropped 34 points against them last month. Considering how Brooklyn also allows the fifth-most points to point guards, I’d be shocked if Booker doesn’t hit the Over again.
Best Suns vs Nets Prop Bet: Devin Booker o29.5 Points (-117)
