See Picks & Statistics For The GameAfter reaching the NBA Finals two seasons ago then finishing with the league’s best record last season, the Phoenix Suns are off to an excellent start this season and will look to keep it going tonight against the visiting Houston Rockets.
So far, Phoenix’s only blemish is an overtime loss in Portland, in which they led the Trail Blazers by five with 1:40 left in the extra period but didn’t score again.
Since that loss, the Suns have beaten the Clippers by 17, the Warriors by 29, and the Pelicans by 13.
Is another double-digit win ahead tonight? The young Rockets are certainly playing hard as they learn and grow together, but that learning and growing is not coming without its lumps.

Houston Rockets vs. Phoenix Suns Prediction and Best Bets
Rockets vs. Suns Prediction: Suns to win
Rockets vs. Suns Best Bets: Suns to cover in the 1st half (Best Value: Suns -7.5 @ -110 at Bovada Sportsbook) & Suns team total over (Best Value: over 120.5 @ -110 at BetOnline)
I–and this is a personal thing, YMMV and all that jazz–don’t love betting double-digit favorites in the NFL or NBA on a regular basis, because I just don’t like that stress. And in the NBA, you never know when a team might play like they got all of the cheat codes and powerups.
That said, I do like the Suns to take a comfortable lead into the locker room. In the Rockets’ first four road games, they have
- Atlanta: trailed 59-50
- Milwaukee: trailed 67-48
- Utah: trailed 61-49
- Portland: trailed 69-58
At these odds, I really like the value with backing the Suns to cover the first half spread.
I also like the Suns to hit their team total over for the game. All the learning and growing that the Rockets are doing is not coming without its lumps or without a lot of points being allowed regularly, and after scoring 134 and 124 points in their last two games, I think Phoenix will have another prolific night.
