Rockets vs Nuggets Prediction & Pick (Nov. 29)
There was a time when it was unfathomable to imagine the Nuggets losing to the Rockets. After all, Denver had won 10 straight meetings against Houston from Jan. 26, 2020, to Feb. 28, 2023.
But that’s where things changed.
The Rockets have since won each of the last three meetings between these teams, which includes a 2-0 record in two games at Toyota Center this season. Even worse for the Nuggets is the fact that they were held to a 97.7 PPG clip in those losses and only scored 86 points in the most recent meeting on Nov. 24.
Even with those losses, though, the Nuggets are still 7.5-point favorites at home tonight. That likely has a lot to do with the fact that they’re undefeated at Ball Arena this season, going 8-0 SU (5-3 ATS) with a plus-11.1 average home scoring margin (6th-best).
The Rockets, on the flip side, the Rockets Onhave been dreadful on the road, going 0-6 SU (3-3 ATS) through six away contests. That’s even less encouraging when you consider how Houston has lost nine consecutive trips to the Mile High City, getting outscored by an average of 12.1 points.
Still, it could be hard for the Nuggets to win by that much due to the team’s injury situation. Jamal Murray (hamstring), Nikola Jokic (back), Aaron Gordon (heel), and Hunter Tyson (illness) are all questionable to play while Peyton Watson (illness) is probable.
Considering how Murray, Jokic, and Gordon are three of Denver’s top three scorers this season, missing any part of the trio would hurt.
As for the Rockets, Amen Thompson is still recovering from an ankle injury while Victor Oladipo is questionable after missing last night’s loss with a knee issue.
With the Ball Arena atmosphere providing a major boost, I’m taking the Nuggets to win tonight. I have a hard time seeing them lose to the Rockets (who have been awful on the road) at home, especially if history is any indication.
Having said that, I don’t expect Denver to cover the 7.5-point spread. The Nuggets are only 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games and have already lost to the Rockets twice this season, making me question whether they can win tonight by three possessions.
Considering how Houston is 6-1 ATS in its last seven games and 10-1-1 ATS in its 12 previous November matchups, this game should be closer than oddsmakers anticipate.
Rockets vs Nuggets Prediction: DEN wins

Best Rockets vs Nuggets Player Prop
I’m a big fan of Fred VanVleet hitting the Over on his 15.5-point total as the best Rockets vs. Nuggets player prop.
While he hasn’t been perfect this season, VanVleet is averaging 16.1 PPG in his first campaign with the Rockets. He’s already hit the Over on this prop in eight of his 15 outings thus far, which includes finishing with point totals of 26 and 17 in two matchups against the Nuggets.
Now that he’s scored 16-plus points in six straight meetings vs. Denver, it’s clear why taking VanVleet to hit the Over again is a good decision.
Best Rockets vs. Nuggets Prop: Fred VanVleet o15.5 Points (-115 on Bovada)
