Nuggets vs. Warriors | Analysis

Championship Pedigree
Tonight’s matchup in Golden State will be between two of the NBA’s most prolific players, Stephen Curry and Nikola Jokic. Both guys sit at the of their respective position, have won multiple MVP Awards and both are NBA Champions. It’s not every day we get to see two of the best in the game go head to head so grab you popcorn and kick up your feet; we’re in for a treat.
The Warriors are 13-1 with Jimmy Butler in the lineup and I can’t say it enough, the offense looks completely different. The team’s averaging 120.1 PPG in these 14-games, shooting 47% from the field and 37% from beyond the arc.
Not only has their offense been hot, but the team’s been locked in on the defensive end. The Warriors are #1 in defensive rating since Jimmy joined the team and they’ve been giving up just 107.5 PPG. That’ll be tough to do with the Nuggets in town, but the Warriors seem up to the task.
Most Valuable Player, maybe?
The Nuggets are tied with the Houston Rockets for 2nd place in the Western Conference, with the Rockets hosting the Philadelphia 76ers tonight.
Denver will need all hands on deck if they hope to sneak out a win on the road tonight and that’s even more true with Jokic out of the lineup. Despite a 40-point night by the former-MVP, the Nuggets failed to stop the Wizards offense; allowing the Wiz to shoot 42% from deep and put up 126 points.
Tonight the Nuggets enter this game without both Jokic and Jamal Murray. They’ve won just 2 of the 6-games Jokic has missed this year, averaging just 107.7 PPG.

Jimmy Butle o6.5 Assists (-109) via BetOnline

Jimmy Butler’s arrival in San Francisco has lit a fire underneath this Warriors team. They’ve looked great on both sides of the ball and Jimmy Butler’s averaging less than 18 PPG with the Warriors. He’s doing it more way than one and the team’s thriving because of it.
In 15 games with the Warriors, Butler’s averaging 5.9 APG and tonight he gets a Nuggets’ team that ranks 30th in assists allowed per game. This same team just gave up 126 points to the Wizards, while allowing them to hit 19 3s and shoot almost 50% from the field. Denver’s defense has been their kryptonite this year and I’m expecting it to worsen with Jokic out of the lineup.
Jimmy’s cleared this line just 6 times since joining the Warriors, but over his L5 games has made a point to pass the ball more. He’s averaging 16.5 potential assists per game in that span and tonight against Denver, he’s once again in a great spot.
Jimmy Butler o6.5 Assists (-109)
Aaron Gordon o21.5 P/R (-115) via BetOnline

Aaron Gordon’s a guy who’s battled injuries this year but he’s back in the lineup and off his minutes restriction. Gordon missed the team’s last game against Washington, that being the 2nd night of a back to back and returns tonight against the Warriors.
With both Jokic and Jamal Murray out of the lineup, Aaron Gordon should become this Nuggets #1 or #2 scoring option. Gordon’s cleared this line 5-straight matchups with the Warriors, going back to last season.
Going back to last season, Gordon’s played just two games without Jokic in the lineup; he finished with 16/13 (P/R) and (22/12) in the two respective games. He’s cleared this line in 5 of his L7 games and in 67% of games when he’s played 31+ minutes. Gordon’s cleared 30 minutes in all 5 of those 7 games, with 1 of the misses being due to injury.
AG’s back and should be in good shape to play full minutes tonight.
Aaron Gordon o21.5 P/R (-120)
