The opener of a playoff series doesn’t always foretell how the series will go, but if Game 1 of the series between the Brooklyn Nets and Philadelphia 76ers is an indication of how the rest of the series will go, it will not be an extended series.
In Game 1 on Saturday, the Sixers never trailed on the way to a 121-101 win at the Wells Fargo Center. If they repeat that performance in Game 2 on Monday night (7:30 pm ET, TNT), the Sixers will head to Brooklyn two wins from a spot in the Eastern Conference semifinals.
Will Brooklyn respond in Game 2, or will they once again have no answer for Philadelphia? Read on for our Nets vs Sixers prediction, as well as our best bets for Monday’s matchup in the City of Brotherly Love.

Will the Nets Have a Response After Game 1 Rout?
When assessing the Nets’ chances of bouncing back in Game 2 from a betting perspective, it’s important to break up their season in two parts.
February 1 was the last time that either Kyrie Irving or Kevin Durant suited up for the franchise. To that point, the Nets were 31-20 SU and 24-25-2 ATS. From that point on, Brooklyn went 14-17 SU and 17-14-0 ATS to close out the remainder of the regular season.
It’s also important to note that in their final 31 regular season games, the Nets were favored in only nine of their last 31 games, whereas they were favored in 34 of their first 51 games.
Why is any of this important? Well, as it happens, Brooklyn did better when they were favored than they did when they weren’t. As favorites, they were 7-2 SU and 6-3-0 ATS, while they are 7-15 SU and 11-11-0 ATS when not favored.
That includes the lone meaningful game against the Sixers, a 101-98 home loss when Philly was favored by 1.5 points.
So, if you feel hopeful that Brooklyn will pull off the upset in Game 2, it might be wise to abandon that idea.
However, backing them to cover isn’t as wild of an idea. Including Saturday’s series opener, the Nets have been an underdog of six of more points nine times since February 1. They are only 2-7 SU in those nine games, but they sport a 6-3-0 ATS record.
Brooklyn Nets vs Philadelphia 76ers Prediction and Best Bets
Prediction for Nets vs 76ers: 76ers to win
Best Bets for Nets vs 76ers: 76ers team total over 111.5 (Best Value: BetOnline) & 76ers -10 (Best Value: BetOnline & BetUS)
Things could tighten up a bit when the series moves to Barclays Center, but I don’t see Game 2 going much differently than Game 1 did.
I did waffle a little bit about the spread here, because I don’t typically love double-digit spreads all that much and the Nets have done well ATS in this scenario for the most part other than Saturday.
But when the Sixers have been favored by six or more points this season, they are 18-5 SU and 13-10-0 ATS. So, with that and Saturday’s performance in mind, I can feel pretty confident backing the home team to pick up another convincing win.
Best Player Prop Bets for Nets vs Sixers
- Joel Embiid over 32.5 points (Best Value: BetOnline)
In last year’s first-round series against the Toronto Raptors, Embiid had only 19 points, then went for 31 and 33 in the next two games.
Look for him to have a jump in his scoring on Monday night after he was held to 26 on Saturday. In the regular season, he shot below 50% in two or more consecutive games only four times in the 66 games he played.
