See Picks & Statistics For The GameThe 2022-23 NBA season continues on Wednesday, Dec. 28 with a showdown between the Brooklyn Nets and Atlanta Hawks. The Nets are one of the hottest teams in the league while the Hawks could use some momentum heading into the New Year. Needless to say, a victory is important for different reasons for each side of this Nets vs Hawks matchup.
The Nets were last in action on Monday, picking up a 125-117 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers. Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving combined for 64 points on 21-of-37 shooting (59.5%) as the duo propelled their team to win its ninth consecutive game.
Meanwhile, the Hawks suffered a 129-114 loss to the Indiana Pacers on Tuesday night. Atlanta trailed by as many as 22 points and never led by more than six, highlighting the need for a stronger performance. With less than 24 hours to rest before hitting the court tonight, only time will tell if the Hawks are up for the challenge.
There’s a lot to take in before Wednesday’s Nets vs Hawks game. Fortunately, Betting News has gathered the game’s odds while also having a prediction and best bet for tonight’s contest.

Brooklyn Nets vs Atlanta Hawks Prediction and Picks
Nets vs Hawks Prediction: Nets 123, Hawks 115
Nets vs Hawks Picks: Nets -6 (Best Value: -110 at BetOnline) & Over 235 Points (Best Value: -110 at BetOnline)
The three guarantees in life are: death, taxes and the Nets owning the Hawks in recent years.
The Nets have won 13 of their last 16 meetings with the Hawks dating back to December 2017. Brooklyn’s wins have come in different shapes and forms, including a 120-116 victory over Atlanta back on Dec. 9 led by Durant and Irving scoring 34 and 33 points, respectively.
Neither performance was a shock considering how well the duo tends to play against the Hawks. Durant is averaging 33.0 points on 56.2% shooting in his last 10 games against Atlanta, which includes a 55-point effort back in April. Meanwhile, Irving is operating at a 27.0 PPG clip with 41.8% three-point shooting in his last eight games against the Hawks.
It won’t be surprising if Durant and Irving have another solid showing. In addition to giving up 129 points to the Pacers last night, the Hawks allow 115.3 PPG (No. 20) on 47.3% shooting (No. 18) on the 2022-23 campaign.
Needless to say, it’s tough imagining the Hawks slowing down a Nets team that paces the NBA with a 124.3 PPG clip over the last nine games. Brooklyn also leads the Association in both field-goal (55.2%) and three-point percentages (44.7%) over that stretch, showing that it can hurt its opponents in multiple ways.
Even though the Hawks have won six of their last nine home games, they’re still hard to trust. Three of those victories came by two or fewer points while their plus-3.2 scoring margin over that stretch is hardly impressive.
Furthermore, the Hawks are only 1-4 ATS in their last five home games and 2-6 ATS in their last eight overall. Meanwhile, the Nets have covered the spread in six of their last seven games while also doing so in five of their last six against Eastern Conference foes.
The Nets have also won five straight road games by an average margin of 5.8 points while finishing with 124-plus points in each of the last two.
After the Hawks’ defense was nowhere to be found on Tuesday, I’m more than confident that the Nets can cover as the 6-point favorites tonight. After all, Brooklyn is viewed as an NBA Championship favorite on BetOnline (+800, No. 3), whereas Atlanta isn’t even on the same level (+6500, No. 15).
I’m also predicting that the total will go over 235 points. After all, the over has been hit in each of the last five Nets vs Hawks matchups. Additionally, with Brooklyn being one of the hottest offensive teams and Atlanta allowing a lot of points lately, I can see the final total being higher than expected.
