Today’s Warriors vs Hornets matchup will be a homecoming for Steph Curry, as he travels to his hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina. It’s a busy period for Steph and the Warriors, who are playing their 3rd game in 4 days, and 2nd game in back-to-back nights on the road. Meanwhile, the Hornets had the previous 2 games postponed due to contact tracing stemming from their matchup with the Spurs 6 days ago. Will the time off help the Hornets or will they need to shake off the rust on their homecourt?

Steph Curry Homecoming
Curry is playing some of the best basketball of his career this season, averaging 29.9 points per game, 3rd best in the league. Even worse for the Hornets, Steph seems to relish visiting his hometown and playing in Charlotte. He averages 27.2 points per game when playing in Charlotte, his 4th highest against any team in the league. Steph has been absolutely on fire in February, averaging 35 points, 6 assists, and 5.2 rebounds. Expect him to stay hot against a defense that ranks near the bottom in three pointers given up per game.
Warriors vs Hornets Key Stats and Trends
The Warriors will fly in to Charlotte after a close loss in Orlando last night. It will also be their 3rd game in the span of 4 nights. On the flip side, the Hornets past week has been derailed by postponements due to Covid-19 contact tracing following their matchup against the Spurs. The Hornets were not cleared for any activity until a practice Friday afternoon. They will have not played in 6 days come Saturday night. So the question will be whether or not they show up well rested or possibly a little rusty.
Consider the following stats for both teams:
- The Under is 5-0 in the Warriors last 5 games vs. a team with a losing record
- The Under is 4-0 in the Hornets last 4 games vs. a team with a winning record
The Warriors possibly being slightly fatigued, the Hornets unable to hold team activities, and the team trends favor less scoring. As a result, the Under looks to be a strong play in this matchup.
Pooch’s Warriors vs Hornets Picks
I think the best bet for this game is taking the UNDER 233.5 points. BetOnline is not yet showing many player props for Warriors players, however, I will be looking out for Steph Curry’s points and 3-pointers lines. Curry is averaging over 6 3-pointers per game in February, and I like him to score 30+ tonight and pour in at least 5 from deep.
