The 2023-24 NBA regular season is temporarily on hold because it’s finally time for the All-Star Break. Basketball’s top stars are heading to Indianapolis, IN for the 2024 NBA All-Star Game, which takes place at Gainbridge Fieldhouse — home of the Indiana Pacers — on Sunday, Feb. 18.

As with regular NBA games, there are plenty of betting opportunities for this year’s All-Star festivities. However, finding out where to begin can be intimidating, which is why Betting News is here to help get things started.
Here’s a look at everything you need to know for the 2024 NBA All-Star Game, including the latest rosters, odds, best bets, and activity schedule.
2024 NBA All-Star Rosters
For the first time since 2017, the NBA returned to the Eastern vs. Western format for the All-Star Game. Having said that, the five starters for each team were decided by a voting process that included the fans, media, and current players.
As for the coaches, the Milwaukee Bucks’ Doc Rivers will lead the East while the Minnesota Timberwolves’ Chris Finch mans the West’s bench.
Nevertheless, here’s a look at this year’s All-Star squads.
2024 Eastern Conference All-Stars: Starters
- Giannis Antetokounmpo, MIL (Captain)
- Joel Embiid, PHI (Injured)
- Tyrese Haliburton, IND
- Damian Lillard, MIL
- Jayson Tatum, BOS
2024 Eastern Conference All-Stars: Reserves
- Bam Adebayo, MIA
- Paolo Banchero, ORL
- Scottie Barnes, TOR
- Jaylen Brown, BOS
- Jalen Brunson, NYK
- Tyrese Maxey, PHI
- Donovan Mitchell, CLE
- Julius Randle, NYK (Injured)
- Trae Young, ATL
2024 Western Conference All-Stars: Starters
- LeBron James, LAL (Captain)
- Luka Doncic, DAL
- Kevin Durant, PHX
- Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, OKC
- Nikola Jokic, DEN
2024 Western Conference All-Stars: Reserves
- Devin Booker, PHX
- Stephen Curry, GSW
- Anthony Davis, LAL
- Anthony Edwards, MIN
- Paul George, LAC
- Kawhi Leonard, LAC
- Karl-Anthony Towns, MIN
2024 NBA All-Star Skills Competition Format
Although a good chunk of NBA enthusiasts look forward to the All-Star Game itself, some only tune into the festivities for the skills competition. After all, there’s nothing like seeing the best basketball players in the world showing off the skills that separate them from the rest of the human population.
This year’s NBA All-Star Weekend skills events take place on Saturday, Feb. 17 at Lucas Oil Stadium, home of the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts. It’s going to be a bigger crowd than normal due to it being held in a stadium, making it interesting to see how it impacts the participants.
Here’s a look at this year’s skills competitions and competitors, as well as each player’s odds to win their respective event (if available).
NBA All-Star Weekend Skills Challenge
- Team Pacers
- Tyrese Haliburton, IND
- Bennedict Mathurin, IND
- Myles Turner, IND
- Team 1st Pick
- Paolo Banchero, ORL
- Anthony Edwards, MIN
- Victor Wembanyama, SAS
- Team All-Stars
- Scottie Barnes, TOR
- Tyrese Maxey, PHI
- Trae Young, ATL
NBA All-Star Three-Point Contest
- Damian Lillard, MIL (+450)
- Tyrese Haliburton, IND (+550)
- Malik Beasley, MIL (+550)
- Trae Young, ATL (+600)
- Karl Anthony-Towns, MIN (+600)
- Jalen Brunson, NYK (+600)
- Lauri Markkanen, UTA (+650)
- Donovan Mitchell, CLE (+700)
There are some great shooters involved in this competition, but I’m taking Tyrese Haliburton (+550) to win it all.
Haliburton has been one of the NBA’s best shooters since entering the league four years ago and this season isn’t any different. He’s averaging a personal-best 3.2 threes made on 40.0% shooting and is averaging a 39.5 3P% across 67 career home games with the Pacers.
Let’s also not forget that Haliburton tied an NBA record with 31 points in the first round of last year’s three-point contest.
With the home-court advantage on his side, I see Haliburton emerging victorious.

NBA All-Star Slam Dunk Contest
- Mac McClung, Osceola Magic (-175)
- Jaylen Brown, BOS (+425)
- Jacob Toppin, NYK (+450)
- Jaime Jaquez Jr., MIA (+700)
While upsets are fun to watch sometimes, I don’t see anyone but Mac McLung winning this year’s dunk contest.

McClung stole the show at last year’s dunk competition, recording a score of 50 in all but one of the rounds. What’s even more impressive is that he did so while playing in the G League, meaning the contest was technically won by a non-NBA player.
Nevertheless, it’s hard to doubt the 25-year-old after seeing what he did last year. The fact that he’s a G Leaguer also means that he doesn’t face as much pressure as his NBA counterparts. All he has to worry about is putting on a show for the fans, which he’s already proven that he’s capable of doing.

- West All-Stars (-145)
For the first time since 2019, the NBA is returning to a standard game format for the 2024 All-Star Game. Since basketball legend Kobe Bryant tragically passed away in 2020, the league has been using the Elam Ending format, which required teams to reach a specific score in the fourth quarter.
Having said that, I can’t help but back the Western Conference All-Stars to win on Sunday.

It’s actually ridiculous to see how stacked the West is this year. For starters, the Western Conference roster has nine NBA MVP awards between them with LeBron James leading the way with four. Funny enough, four of Bovada’s top five players to win the 2023-24 NBA award — Jokic, Gilgeous-Alexander, Doncic, and Leonard — are also all on the roster.
Things get even wilder when you realize that the West has the likes of Curry, Leonard, Booker, and Edwards all coming off the bench. The East has some great players on their bench as well, however, there’s a clear skill gap when you compare the two reserve squads.
And even though this year’s game is reverting to the old West vs. East format, it’s worth noting that LeBron’s team has won five of the last six NBA All-Star Games, making it clear that he knows how to get the job done.

As for my All-Star Game MVP pick, I’m taking Stephen Curry (+1800). The veteran sharpshooter previously won the award two years ago and will be determined to steal the show as he comes off the bench. I’ve learned to never underestimate a determined Curry, so let’s go with him — especially with his odds looking as juicy as they are.
