See Picks & Statistics For The GameThere are three NBA playoff games slated for Thursday, April 28, including a potential elimination game as the Dallas Mavericks look to eliminate the Utah Jazz in Game 6 of their series.
The Mavericks looked dominant in Game 5 on Monday night, defeating the Jazz by a score of 102-77. Luka Doncic led his team to victory with a double-double and a similar follow-up performance would certainly help the Mavs in their goal to move on.
The Jazz will finally have a chance to show what they’re capable of in a do-or-die game. Their top players have been performing inconsistently, so it’ll be interesting to see which version of Utah’s stars show up tonight.
Will the Mavericks put the final nail in the coffin and move on? Or will the Jazz force one final game to be played in Dallas?

Mavericks Seek Fourth Win in Five Games
Although the series is technically close, the Mavericks are the team with the momentum after winning three of the last four games.
As mentioned before, Luka Doncic played a key role in the Mavericks’ Game 5 victory. He finished with 33 points and 13 rebounds for the double-double, adding five assists as well.
Doncic is now averaging 31.5 points, 11.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists on .512/.350/.750 shooting splits in his two games played this series, which is exactly the type of play that Dallas needs to wrap things up tonight.
Although Doncic has looked great, don’t let that undermine what Jalen Brunson has done this series.
The 25-year-old point guard has scored 23 or more points in each game this series, including a 24-piece in Game 5. With Brunson averaging 28.6 PPG this series and Doncic returning to form, it’s clear that the Jazz have their hands full with the Mavericks’ dynamic duo.
Another reason why the Mavericks were able to succeed in the last matchup was that they actually out-rebounded the Jazz, 49-40. It doesn’t happen often due to Utah being one of the best rebounding teams in the league, but doing so for a second straight game would give Dallas a great shot at advancing.
At the end of the day, the Mavericks have been the better team for a large portion of the series. With the Jazz’s chemistry in shambles, it’s time for Dallas to take advantage and move on to the semifinals.
Jazz’s Best Players Must Be Better
While the Jazz lost Game 5 in such an embarrassing manner due to multiple reasons, one of the biggest was that their best players simply didn’t show up.
Donovan Mitchell, who dropped 30-plus points in three straight games to open the series, had only nine points in Game 5 after going 4-of-15 from the field and 0-of-7 from three-point range.
Even Mike Conley couldn’t generate much offense out of the backcourt, finishing with four points on .167/.000/.667 shooting splits. It certainly doesn’t help that Bojan Bogdanović went 0-of-9 on his field-goal attempts either.
In fact, Rudy Gobert was the only starting Jazz player to finish with double-digit point totals, recording 17 points in addition to 11 rebounds.
Mitchell, Conley, Bogdanović and Royce O’Neale combined for just 20 points on 7-of-36 shooting (0.194), which is never going to cut it in the NBA Playoffs. If that quartet doesn’t step up tonight, the Jazz may as well begin to look forward to the 2022-23 campaign.
Head coach Quin Snyder may need to consider giving Jordan Clarkson more playing time. The former Sixth Man of the Year had 20 points with a .600 FG% last game and has now recorded 20-plus points in three of his last four games.
With chemistry rumored to have been an issue in the Jazz’s locker room for the last several months now, it’s clear that something must change tonight if they hope to force a Game 7 and keep their playoff hopes alive in the process.
Mavs vs. Jazz Game 6 Prediction and Best Bets
Prediction: Mavericks 109, Jazz 98
Best Bets: Mavericks -1 (-106 at BetOnline Sportsbook) and Over 209.5 (-110 at Bovada Sportsbook)
The Mavericks have been playing too well lately to doubt, especially thanks to Doncic and Brunson’s performances. It’s going to be an uphill battle for the Jazz that’s too much to overcome.
Best Prop Pick for Bulls vs. Bucks Game 5
- Jalen Brunson Over 20.5 Points (-110 at BetOnline Sportsbook)
As mentioned before, it’s no secret just how well Brunson has been playing this series.
Not only has he averaged 28.6 PPG this series, but he’s hit the over on this prop in seven of his last 10 games — including the last five in a row.
Doncic’s return hasn’t stopped Brunson from seeing an impressive volume, which should lead to him hitting the over once again.
