Magic vs Lakers NBA Betting Predictions & Picks (11/21)
Tonight’s showdown is between two teams who’ve done a great job at building momentum lately.
After an abysmal start to the season, the Magic are a solid 6-1 SU across their last seven outings, which includes holding opponents to fewer than 100 points in each of those wins. Unfortunately, the Magic’s luck ran out on Wednesday as they fell 104-93 to the LA Clippers, never holding a lead bigger than two points along the way.
Meanwhile, the Lakers are back at home as they look to extend their win streak to seven consecutive games. JJ Redick’s squad notched a 124-118 win over the Utah Jazz two nights ago, capped off by rookie sharpshooter Dalton Knecht’s incredible 37-point performance, which included going an absurd 9-of-12 from the three-point line.
It was another impressive showing at crypto.com Arena by the Lakers, who are 7-0 SU/5-2 ATS with a plus-8.4 average scoring margin — eighth-best in the NBA — at home to begin the season. The Magic have been stacking up wins lately, however, most of that success came at home. They’re presently 2-7 SU/2-7 ATS with a minus-6.1 margin on the road (11th-worst).
The Lakers are thriving at crypto.com Arena this season.
As far as the recent history between these teams goes, the Lakers have gotten the best of the Magic more often than not. Los Angeles is a lopsided 7-1 SU across its last eight meetings with Orlando, which includes four straight home victories over the latter by an average of 6.0 points per game.
It’s going to be hard for the Magic to reverse that trend when they’re only averaging 102.1 points on the road this year (28th). As good as they are defensively, they may struggle to stop a Lakers attack that puts up 117.3 PPG (6th), which jumps up to a 122.1 PPG clip at home (2nd).
It doesn’t help that Orlando is still without its best player, Paolo Banchero, who’s still sidelined with a torn oblique. Wendell Carter Jr. could also miss tonight’s affair after sitting out Wednesday with a foot injury.
The Lakers are banged up, too, though. Jalen Hood-Schifino (hamstring) already missed Tuesday’s game while Bronny James (heel) and Rui Hachimura (ankle) could be game-time decisions this evening. Having said that, Los Angeles can rest easy knowing that Anthony Davis (foot) is ‘probable’ to suit up.
The Lakers will likely be playing with both of their star players tonight.
The Lakers are on a roll at home and I don’t see that ending tonight. The Magic just aren’t a good road team thus far and are coming off an abysmal offensive performance less than 24 hours ago. It’s also worth noting that Orlando is an abysmal 7-24 SU when playing with zero rest since the start of the 2022-23 NBA season, which equates to a 22.6% success rate — tied for the second-worst during that stretch.
With the Magic also struggling against the spread as visitors, I can see the Lakers covering in this one.

Best Magic vs Lakers NBA Player Prop (11/21)
With the way he’s been playing recently, it’s a no-brainer to go with Austin Reaves o2.5 threes made (+114) for tonight’s Magic vs. Lakers player prop bet pick.
Although he had a slow start from downtown, Reaves’ three-point shooting has improved throughout the last few weeks. The ex-Oklahoma sharpshooter is averaging 3.7 threes made on 9.2 attempts per game (40.0%) in his last six outings. He finished all but one of those games with at least a trio of three-pointers, including when he went 3-of-7 from the perimeter against the Jazz on Tuesday night.
The Magic are a solid defensive team, but that doesn’t change the fact that they’re still allowing the 10th-highest three-point percentage on the road. That’s without bringing up how they let Clippers guards Amir Coffey and James Harden shoot a combined 7-of-13 (53.8%) on their three-point attempts last night.
As long as the Lakers continue to feed him the ball, Reaves is in a great spot to finish with the Over again.
Best Magic vs. Lakers Player Prop: Austin Reaves o2.5 Threes Made (+114)
