Lakers vs Suns NBA Cup Predictions & Picks (11/26)
Even though we haven’t reached December, tonight’s matchup is already the third Lakers vs. Suns clash of the 2024-25 season. The Lakers notched a 123-116 victory at crypto.com Arena back on Oct. 25 only for the Suns to get some revenge with a 109-105 win at Footprint Center only three days later.
Having said that, both of these Pacific Division franchises could use a victory tonight.
After enjoying a six-game win streak, the Lakers have now lost back-to-back games, most recently falling 127-102 to the Denver Nuggets on Saturday. JJ Redick’s team couldn’t muster anything offensively, averaging just 25.5 points per quarter while shooting 44.3% from the floor and 36.1% from deep. That’s without mentioning how Los Angeles was dominated down low, being outrebounded 48-32 while being outscored 64-40 in the paint.
Meanwhile, the Suns have been in free-fall mode. They’ve lost each of their last five games, only putting up 105.0 PPG while boasting a minus-13.6 average scoring margin. Phoenix is also on a three-game losing streak at home mostly due to defensive struggles, allowing those foes to average 124.7 PPG.
The Suns haven’t won at Footprint Center since Nov. 6.
One thing that the Suns have going for them is that Kevin Durant (calf) and Bradley Beal (calf) both plan on returning to the lineup tonight. Durant has missed five consecutive games while Beal’s absence has reached seven outings, so it isn’t surprising that Phoenix has struggled to win without two members of its ‘Big 3′.’ There’s only so much that Devin Booker can do on his own and time will tell if he gets the help he needs tonight.
As for the Lakers, Anthony Davis (foot) and Jaxson Hayes (ankle) will more than likely suit up this evening. Quincy Olivari (ankle) and Jalen Hood-Schifino (hamstring) sat out of the loss to the Nuggets over the weekend, so it remains to be seen if either man will be healthy enough to play in tonight’s NBA Cup game.
But regardless of who suits up tonight, the Suns tend to thrive when the odds are in their favor. After all, they’re 7-0 SU as the betting favorites this season whereas the Lakers are only 1-3 SU as the underdog.
Will that trend continue tonight?
Can Kevin Durant (and Bradley Beal) help the Suns remain perfect as the favorite this season?
In a game that could go either way, I’m taking the Lakers to defeat the Suns. Durant and Beal still need some time to return to form, so it won’t be surprising if the Suns’ recent struggles continue for the next few games. The Lakers haven’t been perfect this season, however, they’ve had more time to gel as a team and that could pay off at Footprint Center if the hosts’ issues on both sides of the ball persist.
For the best bet, take the Over on the 234.5-point total. After all, the Over is 4-2 in the Lakers’ last six games and 5-2 in the Suns’ seven previous contests. If that isn’t convincing enough, four of the last six Los Angeles vs. Phoenix collisions finished with 235 or more total points.
With defense taking a backseat for both sides lately, I expect quite a bit of offense in Phoenix this evening.

Best Lakers vs Suns NBA Emirates Cup Player Prop (11/26)
We’re having decent success with Austin Reaves-related props this season. That’s why we’re taking him to tally o2.5 threes made (-112) as the best Lakers vs. Suns player prop bet tonight.
Reaves has been solid on the perimeter, averaging a career-best 2.8 threes made on 36.7% shooting through his first 16 outings. The 26-year-old guard finished with the Over on this prop in nine of his appearances thus far (56.3%), which includes a 6-2 record in his last eight games — a stretch where he’s averaging 3.3 3PM with a 39.4% success rate.
Furthermore, the Over is 2-0 in Reaves’ first two games against the Suns this season, finishing each contest with five three-pointers. With Phoenix allowing the seventh-most threes on the sixth-highest three-point percentage at home, there’s no reason to doubt the Lakers sharpshooter tonight.
