There’s excitement in the air for another slate of NBA games on Wednesday, Nov. 9 — especially as far as Los Angeles fans are concerned. After all, it’s the second Lakers vs Clippers meeting of the year and only time will tell how the next chapter in this rivalry will unfold.
After it looked like the Lakers were turning a corner, they’ve lost each of their last three games. Their most recent outing saw them blown out, 139-116, by the Utah Jazz on Monday, making it interesting to see how Darvin Ham gets his players back on track.
Meanwhile, the Clippers overcame their slow start by winning four of their last five games. They enter this contest following a 119-117 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers, where Paul George finished with 26 points, five rebounds and three assists in the victory.
There’s a lot to take in before Wednesday’s Lakers vs Clippers game. Fortunately, Betting News has gathered the game’s odds while also having a prediction and best bet for tonight’s contest.

Los Angeles Lakers vs LA Clippers Prediction and Picks
Lakers vs Clippers Prediction: Clippers 113, Lakers 104
Lakers vs Clippers Picks: Clippers -4.5 (Best Value: -110 at BetOnline) & Under 220.5 Points (Best Value: -110 at BetOnline)
As mentioned before, this is already the second Lakers vs Clippers showdown of the 2022-23 NBA season. The two Los Angeles-based foes already collided to open the campaign back on Oct. 20, ending in a 103-97 win for the Clippers — the eighth consecutive victory over their counterparts.
It was an outing where the Clippers’ supporting cast came up big. They had six different players recording 11-plus points, whereas the Lakers had little offense outside of the trio of Anthony Davis, LeBron James and Lonnie Walker combining for 71 points.
The Clippers also out-rebounded the Lakers, 58-38, while holding the latter to just 9-of-45 shooting (20.0%) from the three-point line.
Keeping that in mind, both sides look a bit different this time around. For starters, the Clippers will be without Kawhi Leonard, who continues dealing with knee injuries. Though he didn’t start against the Lakers last time, Leonard did finish with 14 points in 21 minutes off the bench, so his presence will be missed.
The Lakers are also dealing with some injuries of their own. LeBron, Davis and Walker are all listed as day-to-day for one reason or another, making it interesting to see who’ll be available to play on Wednesday.
Regardless of who plays, it’s hard trusting the Lakers in their current form. Their defense just hasn’t been there this year, giving up 116.3 points per game (No. 24). What’s even worse is that they’ve surrendered an average of 127.7 points over their last three contest, which is the second-worst clip over that stretch.
It also doesn’t help that the Lakers haven’t beaten the Clippers since July 2020 during the pandemic-shortened season. The former’s offense has completely dried up in this rivalry, averaging just 103.0 points in the last eight meetings.
Unfortunately for the Lakers, I’m expecting their woes against the Clippers to continue. The Clippers are the more well-rounded team, getting contributions from everyone. While the Lakers have looked better with Russell Westbrook coming off the bench, the overall depth just isn’t there.
The Lakers haven’t kept things close this season in their losses, which is why I’m more than comfortable taking the Clippers as 4.5-point spread favorites. Besides, the Clippers are 8-1 against the spread in the last nine games of this rivalry.
I’m also taking the total going under 220.5 points. In addition to both sides own bottom-five offenses this season, they’ve failed to score 221-plus points in four of the last seven Lakers vs Clippers meetings. Unless the rivals look completely different, I’m expecting another low-scoring game.
