After a quiet Thursday night around the league, the NBA returns with a 12-game slate on Friday, including a 7 p.m. ET showdown between the Los Angeles Lakers (41-32) and Indiana Pacers (41-33) at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

The Lakers are heating up as they come off a 136-124 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies, marking their fifth win in a row. The Pacers, meanwhile, return home after going 3-2 on a five-game road trip, most recently falling 125-99 to the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday.
Both sides could use a win to improve their playoff positioning. Indiana currently holds the Eastern Conference’s No. 6 seed while Los Angeles occupies the No. 9 spot in the Western Conference, further highlighting the importance of a victory tonight.
There are also a ton of betting opportunities to consider tonight, so let’s look at some of them by getting into my Lakers vs. Pacers NBA prediction and best bets.

Lakers vs Pacers Prediction & NBA Picks Today (3/29): Can Los Angeles Sweep Indiana?
It’s the third and final Lakers-Pacers matchup of the 2023-24 campaign and the road team is looking for the sweep tonight. After defeating the Pacers 123-109 back in December, the Lakers picked up another 150-145 victory this past Sunday as four different Los Angeles players scored 25-plus points. Anthony Davis led the way with a team-high 36 points and 16 rebounds for one of his 57 double-doubles this year.
After the first two encounters, it’s clear that the Pacers are struggling to stop the Lakers’ attack. Los Angeles is averaging 136.5 PPG vs. Indiana this season while shooting 54.8% from the floor and 36.8% from deep. It also doesn’t help that the Pacers have been outrebounded 96-72 thus far.
Even though the odds are in their favor, victory won’t be easy for the Pacers tonight. Again, the Lakers are one of the NBA’s hottest teams, winning five games in a row while outscoring those opponents by an average of 11.8 points per game.
It’s also worth noting that Los Angeles is averaging a league-best 51.0 rebounds during that stretch while Indiana ranks 22nd (40.8 RPG) over their last five outings.
The Lakers have been outrebounding their opponents by a large margin lately.
And while the Lakers haven’t been all that great on the road this season, they’ve found recent success away from home. They’ve won seven of their last 10 road games and are coming off back-to-back away victories over the Grizzlies and Milwaukee Bucks.
The Pacers, on the other hand, have dropped four of their last six outings at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, including three of the last four. Additionally, Indiana hasn’t beaten Los Angeles at home since Aug. 8, 2020, losing three games in a row since then.
One thing that the Pacers do have going for them is a clean injury list, meaning they’ll have a full lineup tonight.
The Lakers aren’t as fortunate, though. Christian Wood (knee), Jarred Vanderbilt (foot), and Gabe Vincent (knee) are still out, although Vincent is expected to return to the lineup this weekend. Furthermore, LeBron James (ankle) and Anthony Davis (knee) are both questionable.
While Davis sat out against the Grizzlies, he and LeBron have managed to suit up more often than not despite their injuries since the beginning of February. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, the Lakers’ duo should play.
Can the Pacers take advantage of the Lakers’ injury situation?
Even though the odds are in the home team’s favor, I’m taking the Lakers to win. Darvin Ham’s team is among the NBA’s best at the moment and they’ve done a good job at finding recent road success. Assuming that both Davis and LeBron are healthy enough to play this evening, the Lakers are more than capable of beating any team.
Keeping that in mind, let’s roll with Los Angeles covering the 4-point spread as underdogs. The Lakers are 4-1 ATS in their last five games as well as 5-0 ATS in their last five outings against a Central Division team. They also own the 10th-best ATS percentage (54.6%) as away underdogs this season.
Meanwhile, the Pacers have only covered the spread in 43.5% of games where they were the home favorite (20th). Throw in how Los Angeles has already beaten Indiana twice this season, and I won’t be surprised if we see an upset tonight.

Best Lakers vs Pacers NBA Prop Bet (3/29)
The Pacers are struggling to defend against the Lakers in the paint this season, which is why I’m going with Anthony Davis o25.5 points for the best player prop bet (Bovada).
Davis loves to face the Pacers, proven by his averaging 27.7 points on 58.0% shooting in his last nine games against them. He finished with the Over six times during that stretch and has done so in each of the last three meetings, which includes scoring 36-plus points in this season’s two previous collisions.
Considering how he has a pair of 30-point efforts since the weekend, I’d be shocked if Davis doesn’t pull through at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
