Knicks vs. Warriors | Analysis

Knickstape or Chef’s Tape?
Curry may not hate the Knicks, but he did think he was destined to be in New York on draft night. All signs pointed to Steph going at #8 in the 2009 NBA Draft, the Knicks were ready and willing; in came Golden State at #7, a team that wasn’t even on Steph’s radar at the time.
The rest is history, in typical Knicks fashion not only did they lose out on the greatest shooter of all time; but some of his biggest games have come against this very franchise.
In their previous matchup this year, in New York, Steph finished with 28 points on 48% from the field and 56% from deep. Over the course of his career, Curry’s played the Knicks 26 times; he’s won 20 of the 26 games, averaging 26.8 PPG as a starter on shooting splits of 46/45/88 (FG/3P/FT).
The Knicks are still without Jalen Brunson, he’s sidelined with an ankle sprain he suffered against the Clippers a few nights ago. New York’s gone 3-1 without Brunson in the lineup this year, 2-1 since his injury. Tonight in Golden State they’ll need all hands on deck against Steph.
Jimmy Buckets
The Jimmy Butler era in Golden State is off to a hot start. The team’s won 13 of the 14-games Jimmy’s suited up for, the offense is averaging 121.8 PPG and the Warriors haven’t lost a home game since January. The vibes are high in the Bay Area and for good reason.
Butler himself is averaging just 16.8 PPG, 5.6 RPG and 5.9 APG, nothing too glamorous, but he’s been indispensable since arriving. The play of his new running mate, Stephen Curry, has been one of the best parts of this trade.
Curry’s averaging 28.6 PPG this year with Jimmy in the lineup and he’s doing it on shooting splits of 49/42/92. He’s scored 25 or more points in 9 of the 14 games and he looks rejuvenated out their on the floor. The Warriors have been steadily climbing back up the standings in the Western Conference and it’s because of Jimmy Buckets.

Warriors -7 (-110) via BetOnline

Like I said, the Warriors are absolutely rolling right now and Steph Curry does not lose to the New York Knicks. Their 121.8 PPG with Jimmy in the lineup puts them into the top-3 offenses in the NBA and tonight at home, against a Knicks perimeter defense that ranks 30th in the league.
New York’s let 2 of their last 3 opponents shoot 40% from beyond the arc and now they face one of the hottest 3-point shooting teams in the league. The Warriors rank 5th in 3s made over their L15 games and 7th in 3-point percentage.
Since Jimmy’s joined the team the Warriors’ offense has been unstoppable and with the Knicks still missing Jalen Brunson, points may come at a premium. Golden State’s top-3 in points allowed over their L15 games and have gotten the job done on both sides of the floor.
Golden State Warriors -9 (-110)
Quinten Post o1.5 3s (-115) via BetOnline

The Dubs newest big man is a sniper from beyond the arc. Quinten Post was drafted in the 2nd round by the Warriors, the #52 pick to be exact. I don’t think anyone saw him having an impact this quickly in his career, especially this late in the year; but here we are, so let’s talk about Quinten Post.
Post shot 43% from beyond the arc in his final year at Boston College and he’s picked up exactly where he left off; except now he’s doing it in the big leagues. Post’s avergaing just 16.3 MPG this year but he’s shooting 41% from beyond the arc. Over his L10 games, he’s been starting for the Warriors averaging just under 21 MPG.
In these 10 games, Post’s averaging 5.6 3-point attempts per game; shooting 41% from 3 and clearing this line in 7 of the 10 games. New York ranks 19th in 3s allowed to Cs this year and Post’s coming off back to back games in which he’s hit 3+ 3s. The team loves him and it’s only a matter of time till we see his minutes increase even further.
