Knicks vs Timberwolves NBA Predictions & Picks (12/19)
Tonight’s Knicks vs. Timberwolves showdown is a big one because it’s the first meeting between these teams since the offseason blockbuster trade that sent Towns and Randle in opposite directions. Since then, both All-Star big men have been playing well with their new teams.
Towns is thriving with the Knicks, averaging 24.8 points on .526/439/.845 splits and an NBA-leading 13.9 rebounds per game. He’s hit a bit of a rut of late, putting up an average of 21.1 PPG with a 48.1 FG% and 35.3 3P% in his last seven outings, though, leaving time to tell if he can break out of his funk tonight.
Meanwhile, Randle is tallying 20.1 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game through 25 games with the Timberwolves. Like Towns, though, the three-time All-Star’s play has left much to be desired recently. In his last seven games, Randle is only putting up 15.9 PPG on .422/.355/.923 splits and only scored 11 points on 36.4% shooting in Sunday’s 106-92 win vs. the San Antonio Spurs.
Timberwolves PF/C Julius Randle’s play has declined in recent weeks.
In terms of team performance, momentum is clearly on the Timberwolves’ side with a 5-2 SU record in their last seven games. Impressive defensive performances played a big role in that success as Minnesota held those opponents to 90.7 points with a 40.5 oFG% and 28.6 o3P%.
The Timberwolves will look to keep that moment going against the Knicks, who have been inconsistent on offense lately. Even though it’s a small sample size, New York is only averaging 104.3 PPG with a 46.7 FG% and 35.8 3p%. That type of play just won’t cut it against Minnesota.
On top of that, the T-Wolves are a whopping 8-4 SU across their last 12 encounters with the Knicks. That includes a 117-100 victory in the last meeting at Target Center on Nov. 20, 2023.
The Timberwolves have dominated the Knicks in recent years.
In what’s a highly anticipated matchup, I’m picking the Timberwolves to successfully defend their home court. They’ve been playing well defensively lately and I expect that to continue against the Knicks, whose offensive struggles are concerning.
With that being said, you’ll want to stick with the Timberwolves on the moneyline given that they’re 2-4 ATS in their last six games vs. the Knicks.

Best Knicks vs Timberwolves NBA Player Prop (12/19)
For tonight’s best Knicks vs. Timberwolves player prop bet, I suggest taking Naz Reid u10.5 total points (-117 on SportsBetting) for your slip.
Even though Reid has been solid for the most part this season, he’s hit a bit of a slump lately. In his last 11 outings, the reigning NBA Sixth Man of the Year is averaging 8.4 PPG on .340/.224/.813 splits while the Under went 9-2 in those games — including a 5-0 run in the most recent five.
Unfortunately, for Reid, his outlook isn’t that promising tonight. The Knicks are a top-10 team in terms of allowing the fewest points to centers and power forwards this season. Additionally, the Under is 5-2 in his last seven encounters with New York (8.0 PPG/45.5 FG%/15.8 3P%).
Keep your expectations tempered tonight.
