The Knicks have officially clinched a 2023-24 NBA playoff berth following Tuesday’s 128-117 win over the Chicago Bulls. Meanwhile, the Celtics aim to regain some momentum before the end of the send after falling 104-91 to the Milwaukee Bucks earlier this week.

Knicks vs Celtics Predictions & NBA Picks Today (4/11): Will Rest Be a Factor?

Even though both teams have already qualified for the upcoming playoffs, tonight’s game means more to one side than it does to the other. The Celtics have already clinched the No. 1 seed throughout the playoffs due to their NBA-best 62 wins. Meanwhile, the Knicks are currently third in the East but can fall to as low as the No. 6s eed.

Having said that, this year’s regular-season series belongs to the Celtics. These Atlantic Division rivals have already collided four times, resulting in a Boston victory each time. Only one of those outings was decided by two or fewer possessions as the Celtics outscored the Knicks by an average of 11.3 points per game.

The Knicks face another uphill battle as they must defeat the Celtics at TD Garden — a place where the latter has only lost three times this season. Not only has New York dropped 13 of its last 18 trips to Boston, but Joe Mazzulla’s team is currently on a 10-game winning streak at home.

Few teams have been able to have success against the Celtics at TD Garden this season. 

Having said that, the Knicks might not get a better chance to beat the Celtics on the road than they have tonight.

After all, there’s a good chance that Boston might not be playing with a full lineup. After all, the Celtics have already clinched the No. 1 seed and don’t need to win another game until the playoffs. Mazzulla has made it clear that he’s using the rest of the regular season to experiment, meaning some of the team’s lesser players could see more playing time in favor of the stars getting rest.

With rest potentially being in the cards for the Celtics’ best players, Jayson Tatum (knee), Jaylen Brown (hand), Kristaps Porzingis (hamstring), Al Horford (toe), Jrue Holiday (knee), and Xavier Tillman (knee) are all questionable to play.

As for the Knicks, Julius Randle (shoulder) is their only absentee after undergoing season-ending surgery earlier this week.

The Celtics could be without several of their key players tonight, including Jaylen Brown (hand). 

Even though the Celtics rarely win at home, I’m taking the Knicks to win. There’s zero reason for Boston to try to win this game, meaning it’s more likely that Mazzulla rests his players (or at least limits their minutes). The Knicks are motivated to maintain home-court advantage in the first round, so look for them to get the job done.

With that in mind, I’m going to keep it simple by backing the Knicks on the moneyline before moving on to my player prop pick of the night.

Best Knicks vs Celtics NBA Prop Bet (4/11)

Sometimes it’s best to ride the hot hand, hence why we’re taking Jalen Brunson o30.5 points (-108) for the best Knicks vs. Celtics player prop.

Brunson has been terrific throughout the 2023-24 campaign, but he’s taken his game to the next level lately. The former Villanova guard is averaging 38.4 points on 49.0% shooting across his last seven games, finishing with the Over six times. That’s without mentioning how he recorded 31-plus points in each of his last four games, which includes back-to-back 40-point efforts in his latest pair of appearances.

After dropping 34 points against the Celtics on Feb. 24, I like Brunson’s odds of pulling off an encore against a potentially depleted Boston squad.
