See Picks & Statistics For The GameThe 2022-23 NBA season rolls on with a new slate of games for Friday, Nov. 4. The Western Conference has a few matchups scheduled, including a tilt between the Utah Jazz and Los Angeles Lakers.
Despite getting rid of Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert in the offseason, the Jazz are playing above-.500 basketball. They’re 6-3 after nine games, however, their most recent outing saw them lose 103-100 to the Dallas Mavericks. Considering how Utah has yet to lose back-to-back games this season, time will tell if the team can rebound tonight.
Meanwhile, the Lakers have begun turning things around after their 0-5 start. Los Angeles has won back-to-back games following a 120-117 overtime victory over the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday, led by Lonnie Walker IV’s game-high 28 points while going 5-of-6 from three-point range.
There’s a lot to take in before Friday’s Jazz vs Lakers game. Fortunately, Betting News has gathered the game’s odds while also having a prediction and best bet for tonight’s contest.

Utah Jazz vs Los Angeles Lakers Prediction and Picks
Jazz vs Lakers Prediction: Lakers 118, Jazz 110
Jazz vs Lakers Picks: Lakers -2 (Best Value: -110 at BetOnline) & Over 227 Points (Best Value: -110 at BetOnline)
The Jazz have been one of the more intriguing surprises of the 2022-23 NBA season. Pegged to be among one of the worst teams this campaign, the Jazz have surprised everyone with their hot start. Someone who’s played a big role in that success is none other than Lauri Markkanen.
After years of decent play, Markannen has taken his game to the next level this season. The 25-year-old Finnish export is averaging career-highs in points (21.7), rebounds (9.0) and assists (2.6) while shooting 51.4% from the floor.
Though he paces his teammates in both points and assists, Markannen hasn’t been doing everything by himself. Including him, the Jazz have six different players averaging 11.6 or more points. With the holes that Gobert and Mitchell’s departures left, that’s pretty impressive.
However, tonight’s Jazz vs Lakers matchup will give Utah quite the test. Los Angeles may have struggled to begin the season, but a focused Lakers team is among the most dangerous in the NBA.
LeBron James and Anthony Davis looked great in each of the last two wins, averaging 23.0 PTS/8.0 REB/8.0 AST and 21.5 PTS/15.5 REB/3.0 AST, respectively. Though Davis is questionable for Friday with back tightness, he should be good enough to play. After all, Los Angeles needs someone to match up with Markannen.
Walker has also stepped up in the last few games, averaging 23.0 points while shooting 48.4% from the field and 57.1% from beyond the arc. It’s a small sample size, but Walker being able to play like this on a consistent basis would be huge for the Lakers.
That’s even to mention that Russell Westbrook has bought into coming off the bench. He’s averaging 15.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 8.5 assists in his new role, giving the Lakers’ bench a much-needed boost.
At the end of the day, the Lakers are 7-3 straight up in their last 10 games against the Jazz. Furthermore, Los Angeles has also won six of their last seven home games against Utah, proving how tough it is for the latter to play at crypto.com Arena.
As great as the Jazz have been this season, I do think the Lakers are too hot to stop at the moment. LeBron and co. are clearly on a mission and if they can keep up their current play, a victory over the Jazz shouldn’t be too difficult to pull off.
Having said that, I’m taking the Lakers as 2-point favorites on the spread. They’re 6-1 ATS in their last seven home games against the Jazz.
With both teams also having top-13 offenses in each of their last three respective games, I’m taking the total hitting over 227 points as another bet worth considering.
