See Picks & Statistics For The GameFriday, March 31’s NBA schedule is jam-packed, featuring a clash at Barclays Center between the Atlanta Hawks and Brooklyn Nets. Atlanta currently trails Brooklyn by three games for the Eastern Conference’s sixth and final playoff spot, making tonight’s Hawks vs Nets clash a must-win situation for both sides.
The Hawks enter tonight’s contest following a 120-118 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday. Dejounte Murray finished with a team-high 29 points on 50.0% shooting while Onyeka Okongwu dropped 21 points with nine rebounds in just 20 minutes of action off the bench.
Meanwhile, the Nets also added to their win total in their latest outing — a 123-114 victory against the Houston Rockets. Cameron Johnson and Mikael Bridges combined for 58 points in the win while Nic Claxton (18 points, 10 rebounds) and Spencer Dinwiddie (20 points, 11 assists) each had double-doubles.

Hawks vs Nets Game Preview
Although neither side has been amazing lately, there’s a lot working against the Hawks tonight.
For starters, they’ve been playing terribly on the road. The Hawks have dropped seven of their last nine road games and a lack of defense has been a huge part, surrendering 123.7 PPG in those contests. The inability to stop the opposition from scoring has led to them owning a minus-5.0 scoring margin over that span.
Unfortunately, Brooklyn hasn’t been the most welcoming city for Atlanta. The Hawks have lost six of their previous seven trips to Barclays Center, having not won there since New Year’s Day 2021.
In fact, it doesn’t seem to matter where these teams meet: the Nets tend to get the job done. The Hawks are just 4-14 straight up in their last 18 games against their upcoming opponents. In other words, things need to change if Atlanta wants to get out of the play-in tournament.
The Nets are vulnerable, though. Despite their dominance over the Hawks at home, the Nets have lost five of their last seven games at Barclays Center. Although two wins are better than none, they came against the Rockets and Charlotte Hornets — two of the NBA’s bottom-five teams. The Hawks aren’t championship contenders, but they’ll put up more of a fight.
If the Nets want to get the job done, they need players like Johnson and Bridges to continue stepping up.
Despite flashes of brilliance back in February, Johnson has cooled off lately, averaging just 15 points over his last 12 games. Meanwhile, Bridges has been the opposite. He’s averaging 26.8 points on .495/.423/.908 splits in 21 games since being traded from the Phoenix Suns to the Nets.
The Nets also have the advantage of having already beaten the Hawks twice this season. Considering how one of those victories took place at Barclays Center, it’s clear that Brooklyn knows how to handle Atlanta in its own backyard.
Hawks vs Nets Prediction and Picks
Hawks vs Nets Prediction: Nets 124, Hawks 122
Hawks vs Nets Picks: Over 240.5 Points (Best Value: -110 at BetOnline)
This is the definition of a matchup that could go either way. The Hawks have been bad on the road, while the Nets have been inconsistent at home. Having said that, I do like Brooklyn winning here. It’s had Atlanta’s number in recent years while the Hawks just can’t find a way to win at Barclays Center. It won’t be pretty, but Jacque Vaughn’s team will find a way to win.
Best Hawks vs Nets Prop Bet
Mikael Bridges — Under 27.5 Points (-115)
As mentioned before, Mikal Bridges has been playing some of the best basketball of his career. Unfortunately, I don’t see him finishing with over 27.5 points tonight.
As great as he’s been, Bridges has finished with fewer than 27.5 points in five of his last seven outings. On top of that, he’s only averaging 15.1 PPG in 10 previous encounters with the Hawks, having never hit the over on this prop in that span.
Bridges is still going to have a great game, however, don’t be shocked if he finishes with fewer points than projected.
