Grizzlies vs. Warriors Game 6 Betting: Grizzlies to Cover Spread Despite Loss

The Golden State Warriors had a chance to eliminate the Memphis Grizzlies from the 2021-22 NBA Playoffs on Wednesday but failed to do so. Now, the two teams will square off in Game 6 of their series on Friday, May 13.

The Grizzlies proved that they didn’t need Ja Morant’s help in Game 5, defeating the Warriors by a score of 134-95. Nobody could have predicted the near 40-point differential and it’ll be interesting to see if Memphis can be as dominant tonight.

The Warriors are likely embarrassed after Wednesday’s matchup and need to start off strong in front of their hometown crowd. Failure to do so could result in this series being extended once again.

Grizzlies Look to Continue Success Without Morant

Some fans were panicking when it was revealed that Morant is likely to miss the rest of the NBA Playoffs due to a bone bruise in his right knee. Instead, the Grizzlies proved on Wednesday that they can still be a threat without their superstar.

Memphis got a balanced effort from some of its most consistent contributors. The team lead in points end in a three-way tie as Jaren Jackson Jr., Tyus Jones and Desmond Bane each finished the previous game with 21 points and four three-pointers made apiece.

Each of the aforementioned players also contributed in other areas aside from scoring. Jackson also had eight rebounds and a pair of blocks, while Jones had two steals and was one assist shy of a double-double. Even Bane had a steal as well.

The Grizzlies’ defense played a major role in the victory too as they out-rebounded the Warriors, 55-37, while forcing Golden State to make 22 turnovers by the end of the night.

Furthermore, the Grizzlies limited the Warriors to only 80 field-goal attempts compared to their 99, which goes to show just how smothering they can be.

Even though Morant will be out of the lineup again for Game 6, Memphis has proven its worth without him. The organization is 21-6 in the 27 games he’s missed this year (regular season and playoffs), leaving time to tell if they can continue that trend tonight.

Warriors Must Move on From Game 5 Woes

The Warriors had an excellent chance to move on to the Western Conference Finals on Wednesday and let it slip through their grasp. Now, they must move on from those woes if they hope to win on Friday night.

One key to a Game 6 victory is for Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson to have bounce-back performances. The ‘Splash Brothers’ combined for just 33 points while attempting only 22 field goals, which isn’t enough from players of their caliber.

For reference, Curry and Thompson attempted 45 combined field goals in Game 4, resulting in a total of 46 points. If they want to lead Golden State to another series win together, more shots are a must.

Draymond Green even had a forgettable outing on Wednesday. The normally defensively-sound veteran finished the game with a minus-32 rating and a team-high five turnovers.

Meanwhile, Jordan Poole has been struggling in his last few games. After being one of the Warriors’ best players to begin the postseason, he’s averaged just 8.5 points in the last two contests on .278/.167/1.000 shooting splits.

It also didn’t help that Andrew Wiggins had only five points on 2-of-6 shooting in over 19 minutes played.

At the end of the day, Game 5 saw one of the Warriors’ worst performances of the playoffs. It’s now up to them to start things off on a strong note if they hope to send the Grizzlies packing.

As the series shifts back to Golden State, I’m going to take the Warriors as the outright winner tonight. They won both of the games at the Chase Center so far this series, however, I am expecting the Grizzlies to keep things close.

I’m also going with the over since it’s a game with a lot on the line and the two teams have already hit it three times this series.
