Clippers vs Nuggets NBA Predictions & Picks (12/13)
It’s the third meeting of the 2024-25 season between these teams as the Clippers look to take a 3-0 series lead over the Nuggets.
The Clippers picked up a 109-104 victory in the first meeting at Ball Arena on Oct. 26 before winning 126-122 in a second clash at Intuit Dome on Dec. 1. With those wins, LA has improved to 4-1 SU in its last five meetings with Denver. Having said that, it remains to be seen if the first victory was a fluke or not.
After all, before that win, the Clippers had lost five consecutive trips to Ball Arena. That’s without mentioning how Tyron Lue’s team is also only 2-5 SU in its last seven road outings this season, which includes being held to fewer than 100 points in two of the last three away contests.
Speaking of which, the Nuggets are returning home tonight after going 1-2 SU across their three-game road trip. Fortunately, their last outing ended on a high note as they notched a 141-111 win over the Atlanta Hawks on Dec. 8, led by Nikola Jokic’s double-double (48 points, 14 rebounds) performance.
As usual, three-time NBA MVP Nikola Jokic has played a big role in the Nuggets’ success this season.
Although the Clippers won the first two matchups of this season’s series, it’s hard to trust them to earn a third straight win based on their recent offensive performances.
Even though it’s a small sample size, it’s concerning to see that the Clippers are only averaging 93.0 points on .400/.297/.828 splits in their last two games. Even though the Nuggets have had their fair share of defensive struggles this year, they did a good job at limiting the Hawks’ offensive upside on Sunday, capping them at 40.6% field-goal and 22.5% three-point percentages.
LA’s outlook is even worse given the fact that it’s averaging the seventh-fewest points in the NBA, whereas Denver ranks fifth in that regard. The Nuggets are also the better rebounding team and know how to move the ball better, highlighted by their league-leading 30.9 assists per game.
It’ll be interesting to see how both sides handle their respective injury situations. Although Christian Braun (quad) and Aaron Gordon (calf) are both likely suiting up tonight for the Nuggets, Dario Saric (ankle) has already been ruled out while Jamal Murray’s (hamstring) status is up in the air and could be a game-time decision.
As for the Clippers, they have a whopping five players currently sidelined with injuries, including Kawhi Leonard (knee).
Can the Clippers beat the Nuggets without Kawhi Leonard (knee)?
After dropping the first two games of the series, I expect the Nuggets to pick up a win tonight. The Clippers are looking awful offensively at the moment, which means this game could quickly become ugly if they can’t keep pace with Jokic & Co. Throw in the fact that LA has lost more than it has won on the road recently and it’s easy to see why an upset is unlikely this evening.
With the way that the Clippers have been playing, losing their last two games by an average of 19.5 PPG, I like the Nuggets’ odds to cover the spread.

Best Clippers vs Nuggets NBA Player Prop (12/13)
I feel pretty confident in Nikola Jokic o1.5 threes made (-143 on SportsBetting) as one of the best Clippers vs. Nuggets player prop bets of the night.
Jokic has been a sold three-point shooter for most of his career, averaging 1.0 threes made on 35.6% shooting since joining the NBA. Having said that, the superstar center’s perimeter shooter is at a new level this season as he averages personal bests in three-pointers made (2.2) and three-point percentage (50.0%). He’s averaging 2.3 3PM with a 47.9% success rate in his last 10 outings, finishing with the Over on this prop all but one time.
If that isn’t convincing enough, the Over is also 5-0 in Jokic’s last five games vs. the Clippers as he averages 3.2 3PM and a 39.0 3P%. In other words, expect business as usual in the Mile High City.
