The NBA’s Eastern Conference may not be the Wild West but there’s still seeding implications daily. Indiana is chasing that ever elusive third seed which seemed improbable just weeks ago. Pacers host the Cavs. Let’s talk hoops.

The Cavaliers have nearly coasted to the first seed.
Cleveland Cavaliers @ Indiana Pacers
The Cavaliers are locked into the first seed. They will have home court through the first three rounds of the NBA playoffs. Cleveland will face the lowest seed that makes it out of the play-in. They have just three losses in their last 10 and are coming off a beat down of the Chicago Bulls.
The Cavs will be resting players here. Donovan Mitchell, Garland, Strus, and Evan Mobley are out. This is a smart move as the rest this week combined with they BYE they’ll have during the play-in tournament amounts to a lot of potential recuperation.
The Pacers are still chasing a potential third seed. They have won 5 straight basketball games and play the Cleveland Cavaliers in two of their last three. Atkinson will likely rest most of his high usage players. Consequently, Rick Carlisle and company are probably contemplating going all out and trying to get the three seed.

NBA Game Analysis
Indiana is dangerous. They showed that last year. If they get favourable seeding they’ll be a problem again. The Pacers will have every crucial piece available. This is their game to win. Inside of Gainbridge Fieldhouse this team is 28-10.
The Pacers will want to get in and get out. However, they should take a lesson from last night’s Spurs and Warriors. Some of the eliminated playoff teams will want to play spoiler in the waning days of the season. The Cavaliers won’t care about being spoiler here but there are several things worth nothing. Kenny Atkinson will have this team ready to play regardless. The Cleveland Cavaliers are 14-4 in their last 18 games on the road. Indiana cannot come complacent.
Additionally, Ty Jerome has been absolutely fantastic this NBA season. Moreover, the 27-year-old is a unrestricted free agent this summer. He is chasing the bag and consequently might be looking to put together a boxscore that makes a real statement. Jerome has yet to play a game this year with both starting guards out. This is a really big chance for the bench players to show their quality.
On the Pacers side, Andrew Nembhard or Aaron Nesmith could be good targets. They are young players both under contract. That pair should see decent run. Also, Cleveland might have trouble with Pascal Siakam. They are 20th in points allowed, 23rd to assists allowed, and 27th to rebounds allowed from the PF position. With no Evan Mobley things could be even worse.
Key Outlier.Bet Insights
- The over hit in 6 of the Cleveland Cavaliers last 8 games on the road.

NBA Best Bet: Andrew Nembhard o17.5 PRA (-110)
I’m going with the Canadian Kid hoping this is just a matter of minutes. Nembhard is a important player and young so I think he’ll play plenty to help secure the win. He has hit this line against the Cavaliers the last two head-to-head matchups.
Andrew Nembhard is important. https://t.co/frTRS9OtUn

Bonus for Peepin’ the Scribbles: Isaac Okoro 5+ Rebounds (+200)
Let me preface this pick with this Outlier.Bet insight: Isaac Okoro has failed to exceed 3.5 rebounds in 16 of his last 19 games on the road (1.8 rebounds/game average).
I did ladder Okoro’s rebounds at both 7+ (+750) and 10+ (+2500). Responsibly of course!
