Cavaliers vs Nuggets NBA Predictions & Picks (12/27)
If you asked several NBA fans about a potential Finals matchup, few would be surprised if it comes down to the Cavaliers and Nuggets in June. After all, Cleveland currently holds the third-best NBA Championship odds (+900) on BetOnline while Denver isn’t much further back in sixth (+1600).
These title contenders already collided at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse at the beginning of December, resulting in a 126-114 home win for the Cavaliers. The Nuggets didn’t have any answers for the backcourt duo of Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland, who combined for 52 points while shooting 9-of-20 (45.0%) from the three-point line.
With that victory, the Cavs have now won two of their last three encounters with the Nuggets. Having said that, both of those victories occurred in Cleveland. The Cavaliers haven’t won at Ball Arena since Oct. 25, 2021, going 0-2 SU with a minus-21.0 average scoring margin in two trips to Denver since then.
Momentum is on the visitors’ side, though, as the Cavaliers are 9-1 SU in their last 10 games — which includes a five-game win streak following Monday’s 124-113 victory over the Utah Jazz.
The Cavaliers continue to be one of the NBA’s best teams as January approaches.
Although the Nuggets are an impressive 5-2 SU in their last seven games, they’re coming off Christmas Day’s 110-100 loss to the Phoenix Suns. Not only did Denver lose the game, but it also lost veteran Aaron Gordon to a calf injury, resulting in his already being ruled out for tonight’s action. The good news is that Michael Malone’s team should have Jamal Murray (ankle) available in the Mile High City.
As for the Cavaliers, Dean Wade (knee/questionable) is the only one of their players whose status is up in the air.
After beating the Nuggets by 12 points earlier this month, I see the Cavaliers winning again tonight. They’re in contention to be the NBA’s best team this season and have already proven that they can beat Denver as long as they shut down everyone who isn’t Nikola Jokic. Cleveland’s impressive defensive play — especially on the perimeter — gives it the chance to beat any team, even on the road.
With that in mind, let’s take the Cavaliers to cover the spread, which is something they’ve done eight times in 12 road games so far (66.7%).

Best Cavaliers vs Nuggets NBA Player Prop Bet (12/27)
Tonight, I’m going with Darius Garland o19.5 total points (-114 on SportsBetting) for the best Cavaliers vs. Nuggets player prop pick.
In his last 20 games, Garland is averaging a solid 20.7 PPG on .480/.432/.920 splits while playing 30.4 minutes per evening. The former Vanderbilt product finished with the Over on this prop 12 times (60.0%) during that stretch, which includes tallying 23-plus points in his two latest outings. That includes when he dropped 24 points against the Nuggets just over three weeks ago.
In fact, the Over is now 5-1 in Garland’s last six meetings with the Nuggets (20.5 PPG). Considering how Denver is giving up the 10th-most points to point guards this season, rolling with the Over again is the right call.
Best Cavaliers vs. Nuggets Player Prop Bet: Darius Garland o19.5 Total Points (-114)
