Bucks vs 76ers NBA Predictions & Picks (10/23)

These Eastern Conference powerhouses are looking to start the 2024-25 campaign right following disappointing playoff exits. Each team lost in the postseason’s opening round as the Bucks and 76ers fell to the Indiana Pacers and New York Knicks, respectively, in six games.

The Bucks are boasting a lineup quite similar to the one they used last season. As such, any hopes for a successful season lie in the hands of Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard, who’ve now had a full year to foster chemistry together. Even though they’re older now, the duo is still among the NBA’s best players as Antetokounmpo averaged 30.4 points, 11.5 rebounds, and 6.5 assists last season while Lillard put up 24.3 points, 7.0 assists, and 4.4 rebounds.

Meanwhile, the 76ers are back with Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey leading the way. Philadelphia also pulled off one of the offseason’s biggest moves when they signed Paul George to a four-year, max contract in free agency.

Unfortunately. the 76ers will be without two of their star players tonight. Both George and Embiid have been ruled out with knee injuries, meaning it’ll be up to Maxey & Co. to carry the load.

Can the 76ers prevail without Joel Embiid tonight? 

As for the Bucks, Khris Middleton (ankle) has been ruled out while Antetokounmpo (knee) is expected to be a game-time decision. Having said that, it’s difficult to imagine the “Greek Freak” missing the first game of the season if it isn’t a major issue.

When it comes to the recent history between these teams, the Bucks have dominated the 76ers, going 12-3 SU across the last 15 matchups. That includes when Milwaukee won all three matchups with Philadelphia last season, outscoring the latter by an average of 10.3 points per game.

Additionally, the Bucks are 5-1 SU across their last six trips to Wells Fargo Center, illustrating how not even playing on the road will slow down their dominance over the 76ers.

Can the Bucks take advantage of the 76ers’ injury situation? 

With the 76ers shorthanded tonight, I’m taking the Bucks to win and cover the spread. Milwaukee has gotten the better of Philadelphia for years and I don’t see that changing, especially with how important a season-opening win on the road is.

Besides, the Bucks are also 10-5 ATS in their last 15 clashes with the 76ers and own a plus-5.0 average scoring margin on their last six trips to the City of Brotherly Love. As long as the Bucks play up to their potential, they should easily be able to win this game by a decent margin.

For tonight’s best Bucks vs. 76ers player prop bet, I’m taking Giannis Antetokounmpo to record o12.5 total rebounds (+102).

Antetokounmpo continued to be one of the NBA’s best rebounds last season, racking up 13-plus boards in 27 of his appearances. The eight-time All-Star is also averaging 13.0 rebounds in his last 10 games against the 76ers, finishing with the Over on this prop in six of those games. Even if you look at the times he ended with the Under, he still never finished with fewer than 11 rebounds.

Without Embiid patrolling the paint, Antetokounmpo will have a much easier time rebounding this evening. As a result, hitting the Over on this prop is a real possibility.
