The first five weeks of the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season have revolved around the letter B. Will that continue to be the case for today’s Straight Talk Wireless 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway (3:00 pm ET, FS1)?
Each of the first five races this season has been won by a driver whose last name starts with a B. William Byron won the season-opening Daytona 500 by being in the right place at the right time, Christopher Bell won the next three races at Atlanta Motor Speedway, Circuit of the Americas, and Phoenix Raceway, and in last week’s Pennzoil 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Josh Berry pulled off a surprise and scored his first Cup Series win.
This week, five Bs occupy the first three rows of the starting lineup. That includes Berry, who will start up front alongside polesitter Alex Bowman, who is looking to add to a solid start to the season by picking up his ninth career Cup Series win.

Straight Talk Wireless 400 Predictions and Picks
Josh Berry to finish in the top ten (+140 at Bovada)
In his lone season for Stewart-Haas Racing, Berry posted just two top-five finishes and four top-ten finishes. After finishing fourth at Phoenix Raceway and visiting Victory Lane in Vegas, he looks well on his way to beating those numbers in his first season with Wood Brothers Racing. If he follows up a great qualifying run with another good finish, the value won’t be this good next week.
Ryan Blaney to finish in the top three (+160 at BetOnline)
After finishing 19th, 28th, and 35th in his last three races, Blaney, who qualified sixth, should be back near the front today. He doesn’t have bad stretches often, and this blip should come to an end at Homestead.
Alex Bowman to finish in the top ten (+100 at Bovada)
Bowman has started this season well, posting four top-ten finishes in the first five races. That he is evens to finish in the top ten when he is the polesitter and in good form is too good to pass up.
Chase Briscoe to finish in the top ten (+115 at BetOnline)
Briscoe hasn’t finished in the top ten since coming in fourth in the Daytona 500. But qualifying fourth is an encouraging sign about how he will do in the Straight Talk Wireless 400. Since winning pole at Daytona, he had qualified 25th, 18th, 30th, and 24th.
William Byron to finish in the top five (-120 at Bovada)
This is another spot where the odds make little sense. NASCAR races are certainly unpredictable, and one bad moment or a mechanical issue can ruin a good day. But other than a 27th-place finish at Atlanta, the current points leader has been getting it done, winning at Daytona, coming second at COTA, just missing out on a top five at Phoenix (sixth), and finishing fourth last week.
Even if he wasn’t starting near the front—he will start fifth—this should still be -140 or -150, not -120, based on his current form and past Homestead results.
