The MMA world is buzzing as we’re just over 24 hours away from UFC Sao Paulo. Saturday’s main card is loaded with promising matchups, but the preliminary lineup also has its fair share of betting opportunities that you won’t want to miss.
There’s a lot to keep track of regarding the early betting action, but Betting News has you covered. Continue reading for the UFC Sao Paulo prelims odds and my betting picks ahead of this weekend’s seven early fights.
UFC Sao Paulo Prelims Predictions & Odds
The UFC Sao Paulo odds listed below are courtesy of Bovada as of Friday, Nov. 3 at 9:12 a.m.
Elves Brener vs. Kaynan Kruschewsky Prediction — Catchweight (165 lbs)
- Elves Brener (-210)
- Kaynan Kruschewsky (+168)
Elves Brener (15-3) was originally supposed to face Esteban Ribovics this weekend until the latter was replaced by Kaynan Kruschewsky (15-2) due to undetermined reasons.
Due to Kruschewsky only having a few days to prepare for this fight, I’m taking Brener to win. He’s currently riding a four-fight winning streak, finishing three of those opponents. Kruschewsky hasn’t fought anyone on Brener’s level yet, making an upset win even more difficult.
There aren’t any props available for this bout, so go with a Brener outright win.
Brener vs. Kruschewsky Pick: Brener Outright (-210)
Rinat Fakhretdinov vs. Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos Prediction — Welterweight
- Rinat Fakhretdinov (-350)
- Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos (+280)
Rinat Fakhretdinov (21-1) is one of the most dangerous welterweights today, rattling off 20 consecutive victories ahead of UFC Sao Paulo. He’ll be taking on the experienced Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos (24-7), who’s coming off back-to-back decision wins.
While both men are talented, I’m going with Fakhretdinov. “Gladiator” is just too good at avoiding getting hit, absorbing only 0.78 significant strikes per minute with 57% defense. He’s also the better grappler, averaging 5.82 takedowns per 15 minutes with 63% accuracy.
Zaleski will try to overwhelm the favorite with his striking barrage, but it won’t be enough as Fakhretdinov weathers the storm en route to a decision victory.
Fakhretdinov vs. Zaleski Pick: Fakhretdinov via Decision (+185)
Victor Hugo vs. Daniel Marcos Prediction — Bantamweight
- Victor Hugo (+200)
- Daniel Marcos (-250)
Brazil’s Victor Hugo (24-4) makes his highly-anticipated UFC debut after winning his 13 previous fights. Victory won’t come easy, though, as he’s set to take on the undefeated Daniel Marcos (15-0), who’s already 2-0 in the UFC.
Hugo has some potential, but I don’t see Marcos’ undefeated ways coming to an end. “Soncora” is the superior striker and has better cardio than Hugo, making it harder for the underdog to keep up the longer the fight goes.
The hometown crowd should give Hugo enough of a boost to survive Round 1, but I won’t be surprised if Marcos finds a way to end things right after that. After all, three of his last five wins came in the second frame.
Hugo vs. Marcos Pick: Marcos in Round 2 (+450)
Vitor Petrino vs. Modestas Bukauskas Prediction — Light Heavyweight
- Vitor Petrino (-250)
- Modestas Bukauskas (+200)
Vitor Petrino (9-0) is the clear-cut favorite in this UFC Sao Paulo prelims matchup as he searches for his 10th win in a row. He’ll be dealing with Modestas Bukauskas (15-5), who’s returned to his winning ways in the form of a four-fight win streak.
I’m mixed on this fight. On one hand, Bukauskas is the more experienced fighter and has looked much better since his UFC return. On the other hand, Petrino is the better all-around combatant and isn’t slowing down one bit.
At the end of the day, I expect a hard-hitting fight between two men with 15 knockouts between them. While I’m not sure who will win this fight, I feel good about it not going the distance.
Petrino vs. Bukauskas Pick: Fight Won’t Go the Distance (-170)

Angela Hill vs. Denise Gomes Prediction — Women’s Strawweight
- Angela Hill (+110)
- Denise Gomes (-130)
Angela Hill (15-13) is stuck in the worst rut of her career, dropping to 3-6 in her last nine fights with a unanimous decision loss to Mackenzie Dern in May. On the flip side, Denise Gomes (8-2) is back in action following back-to-back TKO victories.
I just can’t see a Gomes loss. The 23-year-old Brazilian has some of the most violent fists in the strawweight division and will do some damage to Hill, who absorbs 4.97 significant strikes per minute.
Considering how Hill rarely gets finished, though, I’m taking a safer approach by recommending a double-chance bet for Gomes to win by either KO/TKO or decision.
Hill vs. Gomes Pick: Gomes via KO/TKO or Decision (-125)
Eduarda Moura vs. Montserrat Ruiz Prediction — Women’s Strawweight
- Eduarda Moura (-650)
- Montserrat Ruiz (+450)
No one is a bigger favorite at UFC Sao Paulo than Eduarda Moura (9-0), who’s putting her undefeated streak on the line in her debut. Montserrat Ruiz (10-3), meanwhile, has suffered TKO losses in each of her last two fights.
I wouldn’t overthink things in this matchup. Moura is shaping up to be a special talent and will have the Brazilian crowd in her corner, upping the energy. I don’t see her taking long to finish off Ruiz.
Moura vs. Ruiz Pick: Moura via KO/TKO (-150)
Kaue Fernandes vs. Marc Diakiese Prediction — Lightweight
- Kaue Fernandes (+157)
- Marc Diakiese (-190)
Kaue Fernandes (8-1) is also making his UFC debut as he comes off back-to-back knockout wins in the LFA. On the flip side, Marc Diakiese (16-7) could desperately use a win after tasting defeat in seven of his last 11 outings.
This is another fight that I’m not a huge fan of. While there isn’t a lot of tape to go off of when it comes to Fernandes, it isn’t like Diakiese has given bettors a reason to believe in him lately.
Fernandes vs. Diakiese Pick: Fight Goes the Distance (-150)
