After UFC 287 went off without a hitch, the biggest MMA promotion in the world presents UFC Kansas City live from T-Mobile Center on Saturday, April 15. It’s set to be an action-packed night with six fights on the main card and eight on the preliminary lineup.
Holloway vs Allen to Headline UFC Kansas City
An exciting matchup between former UFC Featherweight Champion Max Holloway (23-7) and ex-M4TC lightweight titleholder Arnold Allen (19-1) is set to headline the night. Considering how Holloway is the No. 2 fighter in the division while Allen enters at No. 4, it wouldn’t be shocking if the winner faces the victory of Alexander Volkanovski vs Yair Rodriguez, which takes place in July.

UFC Kansas City Main Card and Odds (Odds as of Monday, April 10)
The UFC Kansas City odds listed below are via BetOnline Sportsbook.
UFC Kansas City Main Event: Max Holloway (-192) vs. Arnold Allen (+148)
Holloway is in an interesting situation ahead of UFC Kansas City. On one hand, the 31-year-old BJJ expert has lost three of his last five fights. On the other hand, all three of those losses came against Volkanovski, who was on a 21-fight winning streak before losing to Islam Makhachev. Needless to say, there is no shame in those losses.
Besides, Holloway picked up solid victories over Calvin Kattar and Yair Rodriguez over that stretch, defeating both by unanimous decision. It’ll be interesting to see if he can bounce back from his latest losses to Volkanovski (by points).
Meanwhile, Allen is on fire, winning each of his last 12 fights. He’s a perfect 10-0 since moving to the featherweight division upon his UFC debut. Even more impressive is that he’s knocked out both Kattar and Dan Hooker in his previous two outings, giving him a ton of momentum as the underdog.
A win would, no doubt, bring Allen close to a future title shot while Holloway has already been to the top of the mountain before. Regardless of who wins, this fight is bound to be a good one.
UFC Kansas City Co-Main Event: Edson Barboza (+152) vs. Billy Quarantillo (-200)
The UFC Kansas City co-main event sees Edson Barboza (22-11) go one-on-one with Billy Quarantillo (17-4) in featherweight action.
Barboza has certainly seen better days, going 3-7 in his last 10 fights while losing five of the last seven. He’s dropped both of his latest outings, most recently falling to Bryce Mitchell by unanimous decision at UFC 272.
On the flip side, Quarantillo has won six of eight matchups since joining the UFC. After losing to Shane Burgos by unanimous decision at UFC 268, the 34-year-old New Yorker bounced back nicely with a TKO victory over Alexander Hernandez 13 months later, earning ‘performance of the night’ honors.
Light Heavyweight: Dustin Jacoby (-205) vs. Azamat Murzakanov (+158)
Dustin Jacoby (18-6-1) looks to hand Azamat Murzakanov (12-0) his first-ever loss when they collide in a light heavyweight tilt this weekend.
Jacoby hopes to rebound after a split-decision loss to Khalil Rountree Jr. back in October. Prior to that, the former Cage Fury FC Middleweight Champion had gone 8-0-1 to begin his UFC tenure, making it intriguing to see if his latest loss was a one-off situation or not.
As mentioned before, Murzakanov has yet to suffer defeat. He’s mowed through the competition thus far, finishing off 10 of his previous dozen opponents. He’s also gone 3-0 under the UFC umbrella, having knocked out each of those three opponents.
Light Heavyweight: Ion Cutelaba (-120) vs. Tanner Boser (-106)
The odds point to Ion Cutelaba (16-9-1, 1NC) vs. Tanner Boser (20-9-1) being one of the more event matchups of the UFC Kansas City main card.
Success has been hard to come by for Cutelaba, who is 1-5-1 in his last seven fights. He’s been finished in each of his last three outings, getting TKO’d by Kennedy Nzechukwu in his latest outing at UFC Vegas 65.
Boser has also been going through a rough patch, though. The hard-hitting Canadian has three losses in his previous four fights — the first time that’s happened in his career. He enters this weekend as the slim underdog after losing to Rodrigo Nascimento via split decision seven months ago.
Bantamweight: Pedro Munhoz (+172) vs. Chris Gutierrez (-225)
Chris Gutierrez (19-4-2) puts his four-fight winning strong on the line when he faces Pedro Munhoz (19-7, 2NC) at Kansas City.
After losing his UFC debut in November 2018, Gutierrez hasn’t been able to be stopped. “El Guapo” 7-0-1 since then, which includes a 4-0-1 record as a bantamweight. He dazzled the crowd in his last performance, picking up a first-round TKO victory over Frankie Edgar at UFC 281.
Meanwhile, Munhoz has been trending in the opposite direction. The ex-RFA Bantamweight Champion has amassed four losses in his last six fights with each defeat coming via points. His last outing ended in a no-contest after he accidentally poked Sean O’Malley’s eye in Round 2.
Lightweight: Clay Guida (+186) vs. Rafa Garcia (-245)
UFC Kansas City’s main card also features a lightweight collision between Clay Guida (38-22) and Rafa Garcia (14-3).
Consistency has alluded Guida over the last few years, proven by his 3-4 record over his last seven contests. Having said that, he does have a pair of victories in his three most recent outings. His last effort saw him tally a split-decision triumph over Scott Holtzman in December.
Standing in Guida’s way is Garcia, who’s had his arm raised in three of his last four fights. The 28-year-old overcame Hayisaer Maheshate by unanimous decision four months ago in his latest fight, marking the seventh time in his last eight outings that he’s gone the distance.
UFC Kansas City Preliminary Card
Featherweight: Bill Algeo (-184) vs. T.J. Brown (+142)
The UFC Kansas City preliminary card pits Bill Algeo (16-7) head-to-head against T.J. Brown (17-9) in featherweight action.
After back-to-back wins over Joanderson Brito and Herbert Burns, Algeo aims for a bounce-back performance after a split-decision loss to Andre Fili at UFC Vegas 60. Meanwhile, Brown’s underdog status doesn’t change the fact that he’s 3-1 in his last four fights, most recently submitting Erik Silva back in December as the ‘performer of the night.’.
Flyweight: Brandon Royval (+144) vs. Matheus Nicolau (-186)
Two flyweights looking to prove themselves against each other this weekend are Brandon Royval (14-6) and Matheus Nicolau (19-2-1).
Royval has a decent amount of momentum after tallying back-to-back victories against Rogerio Bontorin and Matt Schnell by split decision and submission, respectively. Continuing that momentum won’t be easy. After all, Nicolau is coming off a KO victory over Matt Schnell, extending his winning streak to six straight fights in the process.
Light Heavyweight: Zak Cummings (-265) vs. Ed Herman (+200)
The UFC Kansas City prelims also feature Zak Cummings (24-7) colliding with Ed Herman (26-15, 1 NC) in a hard-hitting light heavyweight battle.
Cummings returns to the light heavyweight division following a 3-1 run as a middleweight, ending with a unanimous decision win against Alessio Di Chirico. He’s set to face a hungry Herman, who saw his three-fight winning streak snapped with a loss to Alonzo Menifield (via unanimous decision) at UFC 265.
Women’s Strawweight: Gillian Robertson (-113) vs. Piera Rodriguez (-113)
The women’s strawweight clash between Gillian Robertson (11-7) and Piera Rodriguez (9-0) is projected to be as even as it gets, per BetOnline’s odds.
Robertson has victories in two of her previous three fights, having defeated both Priscila Cachoeira and Mariya Agapova by submission. She’ll have her hands full with Rodriguez, though. The 30-year-old Venezuelan fighter has overcome her first nine MMA opponents, defeating each of the last three by unanimous decision.
Lightweight: Lando Vannata (+106) vs. Daniel Zellhuber (-136)
The odds aren’t in Lando Vannata’s (12-6-2) favor ahead of his fight with Daniel Zellhuber (12-1) at UFC Kansas City.
Vannata is having issues stringing together wins, going 3-5-2 following a 9-1 start to his MMA career. His last outing saw him lose via first-round submission to Charles Jourdain. Unfortunately, Vannata must now deal with an angry Zellhuber, who tasted defeat for the first time in his career with a unanimous decision loss against Trey Ogden back in September.
Women’s Strawweight: Bruna Brasil (-225) vs. Denise Gomes (+172)
Bruna Brasil (8-2-1) is the clear favorite in her women's strawweight fight against Denis Gomes (6-2) this weekend.
After a slow start to her career, Brasil enters UFC Kansas City riding a seven-fight winning streak. it didn’t take long for her to impress in her UFC debut, KO’ing Marnic Mann on Dana White’s Contender Series 2022. In other words, Gomes will have her hands full on Saturday — especially after losing by unanimous decision to Konklak Suphisara in her latest endeavor.
Bantamweight: Aaron Phillips (+164) vs. Gaston Bolanos (-215)
Gaston Bolanos (6-3) hopes to impress in his UFC debut when he takes on Aaron Phillips (12-4) at T-Mobile Center.
Bolanos made a name for himself in Bellator, tallying each of his first six wins by knockout. He’ll look to keep that streak going against Phillips, who hasn’t fought since July 2020 — the night that he made his UFC debut, losing to Jack Shore by submission.
Women’s Bantamweight: Joselyne Edwards (+124) vs. Lucie Pudilova (-158)
The odds are stacked against Joselyne Edwards (12-4) before she faces off against Lucie Pudilova (14-7) at UFC Kansas City.
Despite missing weight in her return to the bantamweight division at UFC 277, Edwards still managed to earn a split-decision win against Ji Yeon Kim. She’ll look to survive newcomer Pudilova, who finished off Wu Yanan with a second-round TKO in her UFC debut over the summer.
