Tsarukyan Looks to Continue Winning Ways
It’s been incredibly tough to stop Arman Tsarukyan as he runs through opponent after opponent. The Armenian-Russian fighter has found himself in the clutches of defeat just once since May 2016 and is showing no signs of slowing down ahead of this weekend.
Since losing his UFC debut, by unanimous decision, to Islam Makhachev, Tsarukyan has won five fights in a row. While the first three victories in that streak came by unanimous devious, he’s walked away with TKO wins in both of his last two showcases.
It only took Tsarukyan 2:09 in the first round to knock out Christos Giagos, earning ‘Performance of the Night’ honors along the way. He then finished off Joel Álvarez at 1:57 in the second round, also taking him the distinction of ‘Performance of the Night.’
Needless to say, Tsarukyan is shaping up to be one of the more feared fighters in the UFC’s lightweight division and a victory over Gamrot would cement it. He’s the betting favorite for a reason, leaving time to tell if he can make good on those odds.
Can Gamrot Pull Off the Upset at UFC Fight Night?
A fighter with only one career loss is typically the favorite heading into a fight, nine times out of 10. Despite losing just once in his career, Mateusz Gamrot finds himself as the underdog against Tsarukyan.
While the betting odds don’t favor him, Gamrot has actually done well for himself recently. He’s walked out the victor in seven of the last eight times he’s entered the octagon, including a three-fight winning streak since losing his UFC debut to Guram Kutateladze in October 2020.
Much like Tsarukyan, Gamrot can win a fight in a number of ways. He’s won seven by knockout, five by submission and eight by decision, whereas his opponent has the same number of KO/TKO and submission victories, but has six wins when the fight goes the distance.
Having said that, Tsarukyan is likely one of the toughest opponents that Gamrot has ever faced. Defeating him would bring the former KSW Lightweight champion a lot of momentum, inching him closer to a future championship bout.
UFC Fight Night Betting Markets for Tsarukyan vs. Gamrot
If you’re looking for some more in-depth betting markets, BetOnline Sportsbook has you covered.
The top winning method for this bout is a Tsarukyan decision victory at +160 odds. The 25-year-old is 6-1 in his career when his fights go the distance.
Gamrot’s likeliest method of victory is also to win by decision, but at +500 odds. When speaking to the media this week, he told reporters to expect a five-round fight and it seems like there’s a good chance of that happening.
When it comes to round combos, the favored outcome is a first-round KO/TKO victory for Tsarukyan at +1000. Four of his seven career knockout victories have come in the Round 1, however, Gamrot has yet to have been knocked out just yet.
Tsarukyan vs. Gamrot Fight Prediction
Even though both fighters are skilled in their own way, it’s hard to bet against the favorite in Tsarukyan on Saturday. He’s been too good for too long and while Gamrot has proven to be brilliant, I think the Armenian-Russian walks out with the win.
As for the best bet, I’d feel comfortable taking Tsarukyan to win by decision at +160. I just don’t see Gamrot getting knocked or tapping out — two things that he hasn’t done. Any other outcome sees risky given both men’s history.
