UFC 283 takes place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil this Saturday, featuring an exciting card. There’s something for all MMA fans lined up at the pay-per-view, including a women’s flyweight bout between Jessica Andrade (23-9) and Lauren Murphy (16-5).
A victory for either woman would go a long way when it comes to a future UFC Women’s Flyweight Championship match. As it stands, Andrade enters the pay-per-view as the division’s No. 6 fighter, whereas Murphy is tied with Alexa Grasso for No. 4.
There’s a lot of hype heading into this UFC 283 women’s flyweight matchup and it’s well deserved. Fortunately, Betting News has all of your Andrade vs Murphy needs, ranging from the latest odds to our picks for the fight.

Andrade Heavily Favored Over Murphy at UFC 283
There’s a good chance that Andrade will be victorious in her home country. The Brazilian fighter is the unanimous favorite across all highlight sportsbooks. Her shortest odds sit at -530 on BetOnline Sportsbook, carrying an implied probability of 84.1%.
Andrade has gone 3-1 since transitioning to the flyweight division. Her only loss over that time came in her title fight with Valentina Shevchenko, which Andrade lost in the second round by TKO.
Nevertheless, “Bate Estaca” didn’t let that loss get the best of her. Andrade has responded to her loss to Shevchenko with back-to-back victories over Cynthia Calvillo and Amanda Lemos, defeating them in Round 1 by TKO and submission, respectively.
Having finished off five of the last eight opponents she’s faced, Andrade will do what she can to keep the momentum growing this weekend.
Murphy might be the clear underdog, but that doesn’t change the fact that she’s on an impressive run. The 39-year-old veteran is 6-1 in her last seven fights, also only losing to Shevchenko (via TKO) during that span.
Murphy heads into UFC 283 weekend following a unanimous decision win over former bantamweight champion Miesha Tate at UFC on ABC 3. Having said that, Tate hasn’t looked all that great since coming out of retirement, so it’s tough to gauge how impressive Murphy’s victory was.
Regardless, Murphy has made it clear that she wants to challenge for some gold in the near future. That’s enough motivation for her to want to play the spoiler and ruin Andrade’s homecoming.
All in all, this should still be an exciting fight even if there’s a heavy favorite.
UFC 283 Betting Markets & Trends for Andrade vs Murphy
BetOnline Sportsbook offers more in-depth markets to show how the fight could unfold, as opposed to straight-up moneyline bets.
For instance, BetOnline’s most likely method of victory sees Andrade winning this one by points at +140 odds. Only nine of her previous 32 fights have gone the distance (28.1%) and she’s 6-3 in those outings. Keeping that in mind, only one of her last eight fights has headed to the judges’ table.
As for Murphy, her likeliest method of victory is also to win by decision, albeit at +700. Over 50% (11/21) of Murphy’s fights have gone the distance, including eight of the last 10. She’s also 7-4 when her fights go the distance.
Speaking of which, BetOnline favors that this fight will be decided by points at -128 odds.
If you’re hoping to get more value out of your bet, there are method & round combo markets. For now, Andrade is favored to win by first-round KO/TKO at +430. Of her nine career knockout victories, five have occurred in Round 1.
Andrade vs Murphy UFC 283 Fight Prediction
Even though Murphy has been on an impressive run, it comes to an end this weekend. Andrade is one of her toughest opponents to date and will have the Brazilian crowd giving her an extra boost. Besides, Andrade’s the better striker here and I don’t think that Murphy will be able to hang around for the long haul.
When it comes to the best bet, there’s no real value in taking Andrade on the moneyline. Instead, I’m going to back her winning by KO/TKO at +170 odds on BetOnline Sportsbook. Again, she’s great at finishing off her opponents and Murphy’s loss to Shevchenko shows that she can be knocked out.
