The UFC is taking over Rio de Janeiro, Brazil this Saturday as UFC 283 is set to air live from Jeunesse Arena. The card is absolutely stacked from top to bottom, however, one fight that a decent junk of fans are looking forward to is the light heavyweight main event between former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Glover Teixeira and the always exciting Jamahal Hill.
The main event isn’t an ordinary fight, though. Teixeira and Hill are competing for the vacant light heavyweight championship after Jiří Procházka gave up the title due to a shoulder injury. Needless to say, the higher stakes will only make the bout that much more thrilling.
There’s a lot to take in ahead of the UFC 283 main event, especially when it concerns betting opportunities. Fortunately, Betting News has all of your Teixeira vs Hill needs, ranging from the latest odds to our picks for the fight.

Hill Enters UFC 283 as Slight Main Event Favorite
All four of the highlighted sportsbooks are in agreement that Hill is the slim favorite ahead of UFC 283. The 31-year-old’s shortest odds to win sit at -140 on BetMGM, translating to an implied probability of 58.3%.
After getting knocked out by Paul Craig at UFC 263, Hill has been on a roll. The Chicago native has won three consecutive fights over the likes of Jimmy Crute, Johnny Walker and Thiago Santos, defeating each of those opponents by KO/TKO.
On top of that, he earned ‘performer of the night’ honors in two of those outings while his fight with Santos at UFC Vegas 59 was deemed ‘fight of the night.’ The accolades have been piling up for Hill and he’ll have a chance to earn his biggest on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Teixeira hasn’t fought since losing the UFC Light Heavyweight title to Procházka (via submission) at UFC 275. The veteran combatant had won six straight fights before falling to the rear-naked chokehold, leaving time to tell just how he bounces back.
At 43 years old, Teixeira isn’t getting any younger. Fortunately for him, fighting in his home country could give him extra fuel to overcome his age. Teixeira hasn’t fought in Brazil in nearly eight years, so there’s no doubt that he’ll want to give the fans a show to remember.
At the end of the day, this is clearly a fight that can go either way. While Hill has youth and a knockout streak on his side, Teixeira has the experience of already having held the light heavyweight championship. It’s should be a hard-fought battle, making it interesting to see who’ll emerge as the victor.
UFC 283 Betting Markets & Trends for Teixeira vs Hill
For those who want more than outright moneyline betting, BetOnline Sportsbook offers more in-depth options as to how the UFC 283 main event could unfold.
For example, the likeliest method of victory is for Hill to win by KO/TKO at +115 odds. That’s unsurprising considering how he’s knocked out each of his last three opponents. Furthermore, he has a 7-1 all-time record when his fights end in that manner.
As for Teixeira’s top method, he’s most likely to win by submission at +240. Not only does he have 10 career submission victories to his name, but he’s won four of his last seven fights by making his opponents submit.
If you’re looking to get more value out of your bet, take method & round combos into consideration. As it stands, Hill is favored to beat Teixeira by first-round knockout at +410 odds.
Regardless of who wins the fight, BetOnline isn’t expecting a long one. The sportsbook favors that the UFC 283 main event will not go the distance at -650 odds.
Teixeira vs Hill UFC 283 Fight Prediction
Although both fighters could easily win this Saturday, I like Hill’s chances of capitalizing on his favorable odds. He’s been building up a ton of momentum with knockout after knockout and while Teixeira has the hometown crowd on his side, Hill won’t let this biggest opportunity of his career thus far slip through his hands.
As far as the best bet goes, I’m comfortable with taking Hill at -132 on the moneyline on BetOnline. If you’re looking for more value, take him to win by KO/TKO at +115. As mentioned before, he’s been knocking out opponents left and right. Considering how Teixeira has been knocked out three times in his career, I’d say there’s a solid chance that Hill finishes him off early.
