UFC 274 is the next event on the MMA promotion’s schedule and it’s slated to go down on Saturday, May 7 at the Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona.
Although there are several fights worth looking forward to on the event’s main card, there are plenty of preliminary matchups that should be more than entertaining.
Here’s everything you need to know about the UFC 274 preliminary card, from fight information to the top betting odds and picks.
UFC 274 Preliminary Card and Odds (Odds as of Wednesday, May 4)
The UFC 274 odds listed below are via BetOnline Sportsbook.
Welterweight: André Fialho (-355) vs. Cameron VanCamp (+270)
Fans will be treated to welterweight action when André Fialho (15-4-0) steps into the octagon with Cameron VanCamp (15-5-1).
After losing his UFC debut to Michel Pereira by unanimous decision, Fialho rebounded with a TKO victory over Miguel Baeza at UFC on ESPN 34: Luque vs. Muhammad 2.
The 28-year-old has now won five of his last six fights, with each of those victories coming via KO or TKO.
Meanwhile, Vancamp has also been doing well for himself, winning five of his last six outings as well. The main difference here is that he won four of those fights by submission, so it’ll be interesting to see if he can submit Fialho, who’s never tapped out.
Prediction: Fialho Outright (-355)
Welterweight: Randy Brown (-110) vs. Khaos Williams (-110)
As you can see, the welterweight matchup between Randy Brown (14-4-0) and Khaos Williams (13-2-0) is shaping up to be a close one, judging by BetOnline Sportsbook’s odds.
Brown’s UFC career was somewhat stop-and-go for a short period, however, he’s begun to look more consistent lately. He’s scored four victories in his last five fights and doing so in a variety of ways (two submissions, one TKO, one unanimous decision).
On the other hand, Williams is 4-1 since joining UFC and has won 10 of his last 11 fights. He knocked out three of his opponents in that fight and will look to do the same against Brown, whose last two losses have come by KO.
Prediction: Williams Outright (-110)
Women’s Featherweight: Macy Chiasson (+198) vs. Norma Dumont (-250)
The lone women’s fight on the preliminary card will pit Macy Chiasson (7-2-0) head-to-head against Norma Dumont (7-1-0).
Chiasson made the move to the bantamweight division shortly after joining UFC in 2019. Unfortunately, her return to the division didn’t go as planned as she was submitted by Raquel Pennington in her only fight.
Meanwhile, Dumont has won three straight fights since suffering her only career loss. Her most recent victory came over Aspen Ladd in the main event of UFC Vegas 40, so another win here would gain her some attention.
Prediction: Dumont Outright (-250)
Flyweight: Brandon Royval (+198) vs. Matt Schnell (-250)
Another bout worth keeping an eye on is the flyweight tilt between Brandon Royval (13-6-0) and Matt Schnell (15-5-0).
Royval began his UFC career with a 2-0 start but suffered back-to-back losses following that. He’s since rebounded with a split decision victory over Rogério Bontorin at UFC Vegas 46.
Funnily enough, Schnell’s last fight also came against Bontorin. The latter actually won by unanimous decision, but the fight was ruled a no-contest once Bontorin tested positive for hydrochlorothiazide.
Prediction: Royval Outright (+198)
UFC 274 Early Preliminary Card and Odds
Heavyweight: Blagoy Ivanov (-154) vs. Marcos Rogério de Lima (+126)
The lone heavyweight tilt of UFC 274 will pit Blagoy Ivanov (18-4-0) against Marcos Rogério de Lima (19-7-1).
Ivanov was someone with a lot of potential when he joined UFC in 2018. Unfortunately, the transition hasn’t gone as planned as he’s gone 2-3 in the promotion.
After going back and forth between wins and losses for five years, Lima has finally strung together back-to-back wins ahead of this fight, beating Ben Rothwell with a first-round TKO in his last fight.
Prediction: Lima Outright (+126)
Welterweight: Francisco Trinaldo (-110) vs. Danny Roberts (-110)
The welterweight fight between Francisco Trinaldo (27-8-0) and Danny Roberts (18-5-0) is another that’s shaping up to be evenly matched.
After losing his welterweight debut to Muslim Salikhov at UFC Vegas 28, Trinaldo rebounded with a split decision victory over Dwight Grant at UFC Vegas 41, giving him four wins in his last five outings.
Trinaldo will have his hands full with Roberts, who’s been a knockout machine lately. The 34-year-old Englishman has won three of his last five fights by KO.
Prediction: Trinaldo Outright (-110)
Women’s Flyweight: Tracy Cortez (-164) vs. Melissa Gatto (+134)
There are two women’s matches on the early preliminary card and one is a fight between Tracy Cortez (9-1-0) and Melissa Gatto (8-0-2).
After losing her MMA debut, Cortez has been unstoppable, rattling off nine straight victories ahead of UFC 274. She’ll have her hands full with Gatto, though, who’s won five of her last six fights and is yet to be defeated.
Prediction: Cortez Outright (-164)
Flyweight: Kleydson Rodrigues (-355) vs. C.J. Vergara (+270)
A pair of UFC newcomers will collide when Kleydson Rodrigues (7-1-0) and C.J. Vergara (9-3-1) meet in the octagon.
Rodrigues enters the matchup on a six-fight winning streak, having defeated Santo Curatolo by unanimous decision in his last outing. Meanwhile, Vergara will be searching for a bounce-back win after suffering a unanimous decision loss to Ode Osbourne at UFC 268.
Prediction: Rodrigues Outright (-355)
Women’s Strawweight: Ariane Carnelossi (+142) vs. Lupita Godinez (-176)
The second early prelims women’s fight has Ariane Carnelossi (14-2-0) facing off against Lupita Godinez (7-2-0).
After losing her UFC debut to Angela Hill, Carnelossi has won back-to-back fights ahead of UFC 274, defeating Istela Nunes by submission in her last fight. On the other hand, Godinez is 2-2 in her last four fights but is coming off a unanimous decision win over Loma Lookboonmee in her last outing.
Prediction: Carnelossi Outright (+142)
Bantamweight: Journey Newson (+128) vs. Fernie Garcia (-158)
A bantamweight tile will see Journey Newson (9-3-0) going head-to-head with Fernie Garcia (10-1-0).
Newson has had a string of bad luck lately, losing two of his last three fights with the other being ruled a no-contest after he tested positive for marijuana. Meanwhile, Garcia should pose a tough challenge for his opponent considering how the former is on a five-fight winning streak.
Prediction: Garcia Outright (-158)
