The stars of UFC are taking over the American Airlines Center in Dallas, TX this week for UFC 277. The mixed martial arts festivities go down on Saturday, July 30 with a fantastic card filled with bouts that fans won’t want to miss, including the co-main event between Brandon Moreno (19-6-2) and Kai Kara-France (24-9) to crown an interim UFC Flyweight Champion.
An interim champion must be crowned because the current titleholder, Deiveson Figueiredo, has been sidelined with an injury. Taking into account that Moreno and Kara-France are the No. 1 and No. 2 flyweights in the division, fans can’t go wrong with whoever wins the interim gold.
This is also the second time that both men are facing off against each other. Moreno and Kara-France previously clashed at UFC 245, resulting in a unanimous decision win for Moreno.
While it might be hard to predict who’ll win the UFC 277 co-main event, the latest odds from the top online sportsbooks help shed some light on who might walk out of Dallas with the interim flyweight championship.

Moreno Favored to Win Interim Flyweight Title
Judging by the above odds, it’s easy to see that Moreno is the clear-cut favorite to become the new interim flyweight champion at UFC 277.
Moreno’s best odds to win the gold come from BetMGM at -225. To paint things clearer, those odds translate to an implied probability of 69.2%. Considering that the 28-year-old “Assassin Baby” is a former flyweight champion, it’s hard not to like those odds.
Fans haven’t seen Moreno compete in about six months, though. The last time he stepped foot in the octagon was when he was defending the UFC Flyweight Championship in a third bought against Figueiredo.
While the first fight ended in a draw and the second with a victory for Moreno, he ultimately lost the third in the trilogy by unanimous decision.
The road to winning the flyweight championship won’t be easy for Moreno. It could be argued that Kara-France is one of the hottest fighters on the planet, having won four of his last five UFC fights and 12 of his last 14 overall.
Kara-France has also been sending his opponents to an early finish as of late. He has knockout victories over Rogério Bontorin and Cody Garbrandt in his last three outings, earning ‘Performance of the Night’ honors in both bouts.
While Kara-France averages 4.84 significant strikes per minute on 40% accuracy, Moreno has yet to be knocked out in his career. That’s likely due to his own style forcing his opponents to the mat, proven by his 1.84 takedowns per 15 minutes.
Fortunately for Kara-France, the 29-year-old boasts an 86% takedown defense rate. He can certainly hold his own against grapple-happy opponents and time will tell what his game plan is to defeat Moreno at UFC 277.
UFC 277 Betting Markets & Trends for Moreno vs. Kara-France
While betting on the moneyline is popular, there isn’t too much value to be had for the UFC 277 co-main event unless you’re going for a Kara-France upset. Having said that, BetOnline Sportsbook has several other markets that can provide value.
The favored method of victory for the flyweight co-main event is for Moreno to win by decision at +145. However, that may not be the best option considering that Moreno is only 5-6 when his fights go the distance.
As for Kara-France, his top method of victory is also to win by decision at +350 odds. He’s 6-1 in his last seven fights that have headed to the judges’ table, including a unanimous decision victory over Askar Askarov in his last outing back in March.
In round betting, Moreno is favored to end the fight in the first round at +650. Two of his last three fights have ended in a first-round KO/TKO.
Moreno vs. Kara-France Fight Prediction
The upcoming interim UFC Flyweight Championship fight is definitely one that’s tough to call. Having said that, Moreno handled Kara-France without an issue nearly three years ago and I don’t see much changing.
I’m taking Moreno to walk out of Dallas as the new interim champion. As for the best bet, go for Moreno winning by decision at +145.
