Entering this week, the New York Yankees had recorded eight straight series wins. They will take that run to nine straight with a win over the Baltimore Orioles tonight, and they are a good bet to do just that with their ace on the mound.
To date, the Yankees’ only series loss was in their previous trip to Baltimore, when they lost two of three. A loss in the series finale on April 17 dropped them to 5-5 and improved the Orioles to 3-6. In the month since, the Bronx Bombers are 22-4, while the O’s have recorded half as many wins.
The visitors have taken the first two in this series, winning 6-2 on Monday and 5-4 last night. If the home team is to have a chance to cool off baseball’s hottest team, they will Jordan Lyles to repeat the outing that he had when he first faced the Yankees this season.

Cole Looks to Continue Run of Success Against Orioles
Since making the move to the American League in 2018 with the Houston Astros, Cole has made seven starts against the Orioles, posting a 4-1 record with a 1.41 ERA.
Of the seven starts, six have been quality starts, and in 44.2 innings against the Orioles, he has struck out 64, allowed only 27 hits, nine walks, and seven earned runs.
This will be his first outing against the Orioles this season, but the odds are high that his previous success will carry over into tonight.
Cole didn’t have a good start out of the gate, but he has gotten back on track in a big way since. In his last four starts, he is 3-0 with a 1.42 ERA. In 25.1 innings, he has allowed just four runs and has tallied 34 strikeouts to just five walks. As a result, he remains one of the leading AL Cy Young Award favorites, coming in third behind Houston’s Justin Verlander and Toronto’s Kevin Gausman.
His opposite number could help keep this one a tight, low-scoring affair. Lyles is 1-3 with a 6.64 ERA in four road starts, but he is 1-9 with a 1.93 ERA in three home starts.
That includes a strong outing against the Yankees on April 15, in which he allowed one run, six hits, and two walks in 5.1 innings. He was on the hook for the loss when he exited, but the Orioles forced extras and then won 2-1 in 11 innings.
New York Yankees vs. Baltimore Orioles Prediction and Best Bets
Yankees vs. Orioles Prediction: Yankees to win
Yankees vs. Orioles Best Bets: UNDER 7.5 (-105 at Bovada Sportsbook)
The Bronx Bombers are third in the league in runs per game (4.94) and fourth in runs per game on the road (5.11), and they have scored 16 runs over their last three road games.
The over hit both Monday and Tuesday night and has hit in six of the Yankees’ last eight games, but trends favor the under in tonight’s matchup. The under is 10-8 in the Yankees’ road games and 11-6-1 in the Orioles’ home games, and it is 9-5-1 when the Orioles have been a home underdog and 10-6 when the Yankees have been a road favorite.
Additionally, the Orioles have yet to be part of three straight overs this season and have not been since September 11 & 12 of last year against the Blue Jays, while the Yankees have not yet had three straight overs on the road this season.
