World Series 2024 Prediction: Philadelphia Phillies (+400)
There are plenty of MLB clubs that are worthy of challenging for the 2024 World Series. With that being said, I’m going with the Philadelphia Phillies (+400) to win it all this October.
The Phillies head into the All-Star Break with an MLB-leading 62-34 (64.6%) record through 96 games. The Cleveland Guardians (+1400) own the second-best record, which is 3.5 games behind Rob Thomson’s squad. That alone shows how much better Philadelphia is than the competition.
The thing about the Phillies is that their top players are living up to expectations. Bryce Harper is in the middle of another MVP-caliber season as he’s amassed 21 home runs and 61 RBIs with .301/.403/.579 slash line. Kyle Schwarber (19), Nick Castellanos (13), Trea Turner (11), and Alec Bohm (11) have each reached the double-digit HR mark, too.
That’s without mentioning how three of the Phillies’ starting pitchers own an ERA of 3.38 or better, including Zack Wheeler (2.70), who is one of the favorites to be named the 2024 NL Cy Young winner.
Phillies RHP Zack Wheeler is 10-4 with an NL-leading 2.70 ERA through 19 starts.
While the Phillies boast several impressive individual performances, they’ve also experienced a ton of success as a team. Philadelphia sits near the top of the Majors for several statistics, including:
- Hits: 3rd
- Home runs: 6th
- Walks: 4th
- Stolen bases: 4th
- Batting average: 3rd
- On-base percentage: 3rd
- Slugging percentage: 6th
- On-base plus slugging: T-3rd
- ERA: 2nd
- HRs allowed: 3rd
- Strikeouts: 1st
When a team is that good on both sides of the ball, it becomes increasingly difficult to doubt them. The Phillies have the bats and the arms to do plenty of damage down the stretch and that’ll likely happen as long as their roster remains healthy. If that’s the case, the City of Brotherly Love has a terrific shot at seeing its first World Series victory since 2008.

How to Bet on 2024 MLB Season
Hoping to get in on the 2024 World Series betting action? Want to wager on more than just the MLB regular season, too? Betting News has your baseball needs covered from March to November.
We have many baseball betting resources, ranging from daily MLB odds and betting predictions to expert picks. You can find them below to help you get started:
2024 World Series Dark Horse Predictions
Although I’m fairly confident in the Phillies going all the way this postseason, it isn’t always the favorite that wins the championship. After all, the Texas Rangers only had the fifth-best odds to win last year’s World Series at the 2023 MLB All-Star Break and we all know how that ended.
With that in mind, here are a few “dark horses” that I think could challenge for the World Series if the planets align. Again, these are long shots, so only sprinkle a bit of scratch if you plan to back them.
Cleveland Guardians (+1400)
Are the Guardians being underrated by oddsmakers? Despite being the American League leader and owning the second-best record in the Majors, Cleveland only has the sixth-best World Series odds. Aside from Citizen Bank Park, Progressive Field has been the worst destination for visiting teams this season, which could give the Guardians a major edge in the playoffs.
Seattle Mariners (+2200)
You can also argue that the Seattle Mariners are being underrated at +2200 World Series odds — good for ninth-best. It’s shocking given that the Mariners are the AL West leaders and have proven that they’re capable of hanging with the MLB’s top clubs. Seattle has one of the best starting rotations in the league and the unit must maintain its success to do some damage this fall.
New York Mets (+5500)
It didn’t look like the New York Mets were going to contend for anything after a putrid 22-33 start to the 2024 season. Fortunately, they turned things around over the last two months. Since May 30, the Mets have led the entire Majors with a 67.5% winning percentage, which is better than the likes of the Phillies (59.0%), Orioles (54.8%), and Dodgers (51.3%) during that stretch. New York’s odds will only improve if this momentum continues, so hammer some of the action before it’s too late.
