Next week is a big week for the Chicago White Sox, as they host the Houston Astros for four games before visiting the Cleveland Guardians for three games.
But with them now within just two games of the first-place Minnesota Twins in the AL Central, this week is a pretty big week as well. And it starts today with a doubleheader against the Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium.
In the first game of the Tuesday twinbill, the White Sox will send Lance Lynn to the mound, while Brady Singer will get the start for the Royals.
Lynn had one of his best starts of the season just last week against Kansas City, and a repeat of that could help Chicago pick up a win that will help put more pressure on the Twins, who are in California this week to face the Dodgers and Angels.

Will Recent Success on the Mound Continue for Chicago?
The White Sox enter today’s doubleheader with six wins in their last nine games and are poised to make the move we’ve all been waiting on them to make all season.
There have been a lot of ups and downs with their offense and pitching all season long. But things are trending up with their pitching, and they put up eight runs and 15 hits on Sunday to pick up a split from their four-game road series against the Texas Rangers.
In their last nine games, Chicago has allowed more than three runs only one time, which was Saturday’s 8-0 loss in Arlington.
Lynn, who didn’t make his first start of the season until June 13, had a lot of trouble out of the gate. In his first nine starts, he allowed five or more runs six times and allowed 55 hits, 38 runs (34 earned), and 10 homers in 47.2 innings.
But he was excellent last Wednesday against Kansas City, allowing just one run and four hits and striking out eight–with no walks–in Chicago’s 4-1 win at Guaranteed Rate Field.
In three starts against the Royals since moving to the Windy City last season, Lynn is 3-0 with a 0.45 ERA. Across 20 innings, he has allowed just one run, ten hits, and four walks and struck out 25.
In last Wednesday’s matchup, Singer allowed four runs, 11 hits, and a walk in six innings and took the loss.
But different results are a reasonable expectation when five of his six quality starts this season have come in his eight home starts. On May 17, he pitched seven shutout innings, allowed four hits and no walks, and struck out nine in a 2-1 home win over the White Sox.
Chicago White Sox vs. Kansas City Royals Prediction and Picks
White Sox vs. Royals Prediction: White Sox to win
White Sox vs. Royals Picks: White Sox/Royals under 8 (Best Value: -120 at BetMGM)
Both last Wednesday’s matchup and Singer’s May start against the White Sox were low-scoring affairs, and with how the White Sox have been pitching as of late, the value is with the under in this game.
This season, the under is 28-26-2 in Kansas City’s home games, while it is 26-24-4 in Chicago’s away games. There’s not much to take from those numbers, but the under is certainly the move to make here.
