See Picks & Statistics For The GameExpected American League pennant contenders open a three-game series on Tuesday, as the Blue Jays host the Chicago White Sox at Rogers Centre.
In tonight’s opener, AL Cy Young Award candidates take the hill in Toronto’s Kevin Gausman and Chicago’s Lucas Giolito. At BetOnline, Gausman is currently the second favorite for the award behind Houston’s Justin Verlander, while Giolito and Cleveland’s Shane Bieber are tied for ninth at +2500 odds.
Neither team has had the start that they expected or were expected to. Both teams entered the season favored to win their respective divisions, but the South Siders are currently second in the AL Central behind the Minnesota Twins and the Blue Jays are third in the AL East behind the New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays.
The White Sox, however, do make the trip north having won their last four road series, while the Blue Jays enter the series with five straight wins.

Is the Under the Best Option with Elite Aces on the Mound in Toronto?
With two of the game’s premier pitchers getting the ball tonight at Rogers Centre, the under would appear to be the obvious move.
Sometimes what seems to be the obvious move isn’t the move to make, but often enough it is. And this is one of those times that what appears to be the obvious move to make is indeed the move to make.
Over/Under Trends for Chicago White Sox vs. Toronto Blue Jays
- The under is 15-7-0 in Toronto’s home games this season.
- The under is 12-9-1 in Chicago’s road games this season.
- In games following a Toronto win this season, the under is 16-10-0.
- When Chicago has been a road underdog this season, the under is 6-3-0.
- When the Blue Jays have been a home favorite this season, the under is 13-7-0.
- In Chicago’s non-division games this season, the under is 17-10-0.
Toronto and Chicago have some of the most talented hitters in the game, and those bats have delivered at times this season. But on the whole, neither lineup has lived up to lofty expectations to this point in 2022.
Entering today, the White Sox are 27th in the league in runs per game (3.63). On the road, they are averaging 3.59 runs per game, which is 23rd in the league.
The Blue Jays, meanwhile, are 23rd in the league in runs per game (3.94). At home, they are 22nd in the league in scoring, averaging 3.68 runs per game.
On a positive note, both teams have been pretty stingy away and at home. On the road, Chicago is allowing just 3.45 runs per game, which is third best in MLB. Toronto is allowing 3.95 runs per game at home, which is 13th in the league.

If you are backing the home team, the best value is at BetOnline, but if you are backing the visitors, the best value can be found elsewhere.
Gausman is on a good run, with six quality starts in his last seven starts. But after failing to pick up a win in his three April starts, Giolito is 3-0 with a 2.66 ERA in May, and he comes in with a 2-0 record in four career starts against the Blue Jays. So, he is good value to lead the South Siders to the win tonight.
The Blue Jays enter this series on a roll and have scored 35 runs during their five-game win streak. But those wins came on the road, and home is where the problems have been. After scoring four or more runs in each of their first eight home games this season, Toronto has scored four or more runs only twice in 14 home games.
The White Sox have been similarly profligate on the road. They scored 19 runs at Detroit to open the season, but they have scored just 60 runs in 19 road games, an average of 3.16 runs per game.
Look for the visitors to edge a tight tilt tonight in Toronto.
